pullrite lubricant???

I bought a used pullrite hitch this past winter. I finally installed it. It says to use slip plate to lubricate the moving parts. Went to our area camping world, asked for spray, they looked at me funny and said here, use this, a can of slideout spray!!!. Said they never heard of slip plate before. Guess I won't have them do any service on my trailer.
Question: what is compatible with slip plate? What have you used for the same results?
Do not need to ruin this hitch as it is just about new.
Thanks for your help

Racerjoe,
I have a few suggestions. I was told that Grangier carried slipplate. When I went to my local store, they didn't have it so the offered to order it. They ordered the chain & cable aerosol. Pullrite told me that was the wrong one to use.
I found it on slipates website http://slipplate.com/index.php?main_...&products_id=4
This was the best source for me and far less expensive (free shipping).

Also you might find this helpful in servicing the hitch:
http://www.pullrite.com/pdfs/SlipPlate.pdf

I pull mine out of the truck about once a year, clean and respray the tubes. In between, I just apply spray after use.

Hope that helps

Ken

Pull rite will be at the Rally and will service hitches for those who have them. Where the best place to get the lubricant is would be an excellent question to ask them.

I have one of the newest Pull rites that has plastic wear plates and doesn't need lubricating. You just hit it with a little Wd40 once in a while to prevent rust. A retro-kit is available for users without Plastic Wear Plates. (16K – Part# 4107 / 18K – Part# 4411)

thanks for the help. I called pullrite this morning and hung up confused, thats why I put it on this forum. I asked what slip plate aerasol to use and the guy said slip plate??? I said I know the brand but which one of the many that they produce? his answer, slip plate!! Okay, now I get it? so I said thank you and have a nice day,and then hung up. Came here and received the answer quickly. Thanks again.
Lee F., I also asked about the refit kit for these and he said theyhave stopped making them, due to many self installation problems that became pullrites after the fact. But thanks for the suggestion.

Racerjoe, I use SlipPlate and follow all the maintenance issues involved. I have had the 18K SuperGlide for 4 years. You can order the product online at many sites if you do a search. One given you already was amazon.com. I reside in a small Western North Carolina town that has a Napa store. Pullrite offered some years back that many Napa stores sell it or can get it. My store doesn't carry it but ordered it for me with it at there store the very next day at about $9-10 per can. I generally order about 4 at a time. You have a NAPA store in your town. Give them a call and find out specifics on ordering and price. Good Luck. NAPA AUTO PARTS
