I fashioned the boat lift by putting 4 eye bolts through the aluminum framing, 2 in front about 2 feet from the front and 2 in the back about 2 feet in. Thank you so much for replying! Your ratchet system looks like a perfect solution - still leaving the tray to hold other things. One of our kayaks is 10 1/2 feet long...do you think there is room to squeeze another 6 inches into the cargo area? If not we'll have to trade that kayak off and get another ten footer!
