SOB may be in the future
My new adventure started last year when I purchased a 1965 Jaguar 3.8 S-Type, aka Miss Kitty, with the goal to do a complete rotisserie restoration. When she is done, we want to attend various car shows around the country. We would like to travel in our current rig; however, obviously, that cannot happen.
So we started to look at toy haulers. Forget that option. Not enough carrying capacity to carry Miss Kitty and all of our stuff. We could have one custom built, but the budget will not support that option.
Looking like the only option is to revert back to a motorhome and tow a trailer. We had a 2002 40' Monaco Diplomat and a Pace 24' enclosed trailer from 2002 thru 2005. We many need to go that route and sell our current rig, which we just finished installing major options last year. (Theater seating, auto sat. dish, washer and dryer, outside TV, etc.
Any other ideas out there? Miss Kitty weighs 3,500# and is 15' 7" long, 6' 6" wide, and 4' 6" high.

Extend the frame on bubba and put her in a enclosed dry box. He should be plenty big enough to handle that.

If I did that, it would put me roughly between 77' and 80' which would restrict me from entering too many states. But thanks for posting.

I think you're probably on the right track. All of us have to adjust our toys from time to time to meet our new lifestyle goals.

Unless you find a 44' custom toy hauler of some type, I agree that you may be looking at going back to a MH with car hauler. The resort we stayed in last winter had some really nice high end car haulers being pulled by larger diesel pushers. I suspect one issue with a larger toy hauler fiver that would have that long of a garage would still be reduced living area, or at least reduced compared to what you are used to with your 3725RL.

If you got to take miss kitty around with you, then it is your option OR buy a trailer and pickup to tow it with...and...have the wife drive that while you drive bubba. Just a thought for you. John

The motor home and trailer are the best (IMHO) and easiest solutions. Too bad you have to get rid of what you already have though. Can you put a 5th wheel hitch on the Jag?

Great comments everyone. Thanks. Looks like the MH and trailer is our best bet. Will post on this site first....since I would rather sell to a Montana enthusiast. Look for the ad here: http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=64918

Say it ain't so, Joe, say it ain't so. I'll miss your contributions to the MOC. You've always given thoughtful responses to posts here. Best of luck with your future endeavors. Can you at least post a picture of the woman you're leaving us for (Miss Kitty)?

Captain Joe, hope you will still stay active and check in on the MOC from time to time. We have friends that have a SOB toy hauler and are preparing to change over to a MH and enclosed car hauler combination. I would be interested in hearing how your change over progresses.

Nice car Joe. I'm sure it's a rarity. Best of luck and hopefully I'll see you at a show someday.

Thanks everyone...yes I will keep in touch. Being right hand drive, Miss Kitty is only one of 5 or 6 in the U.S.

Well the wife drives one of my 3 restored Hot Rods to the Shows and I tow the Montana. My 3 Hot Rods are frame offs 48 Ford Sedan and 62 Ford Unibody Truck and a rotiserie build on the 66 Mustang GT Fastback. Just drive it.

@David. Being a right hand drive and a four speed, the DW won't drive it. The other option is for me to make two trips on local weekend shows and go alone on one-day shows and stay in the HDT, aka Bubba. Thanks....

Joe, Maybe a 1/2 ton with a car hauler. Keep what you got. Stay in a motel or such on the week ends at the car shows if you are close to home.
When you had the pusher you had a toad, with a pusher now you got a trailer and a car inside. Maybe the DW drive the PU, tow the Jag.
You are going to miss your big truck.
Jim

Jim....understand, I will miss the big truck and the 5ver and all of their advantages. The DW will not drive. Never has and never will. I do not do hotels and motels. Just can't get into a bed that 1,000's have been there before. We had a pusher and an enclosed trailer in 2006; however, we sold it and got a 5ver. Our Durango is still setup as a toad, so that transition will be easy for use on non-car show trips. Being retired and paying to restore a classic, it seems to be the most economical decision.
Of course, if it does not sell, then just my son and I will go to the car shows, tow the Jag in an enclosed modified trailer, and stay in the trailer & Volvo. At local car shows, I can just make two trips and take everybody. Thanks for everything.
