How 'bout them RV Covers?

I did a search but could not get the search engine to work for me. We just finished a trip to Texas and back with our camper and it's about time to take her back to storage (outside storage.) Anyway, we have an RV cover for our 3295 we used one winter while stationed in New Jersey. It did a really good without leaving much of anything in the way of marks on the rig from wind. Now, we are down here in sunny Florida and I'm seriously thinking of putting that thing back on. We don't use the rig a whole bunch and it sure does get dirty. Since being down here, we have noticed the outside trim has accumulated what looks like mold stains on it; that's with no cover on it. Most likely because of the high humidity we have here. That's the reason I post; anyone in the Panhandle of Florida using a cover on their rigs? I believe mine is Tyvec (water resistant, UV resistant, etc.) but I need to double check. Thanks for any input...good or bad.

I'm not in Florida and don't use a cover but if you'll go to one of the Dollar stores and buy some Awesome, that stuff will take off those mold stains.

I would think a cover would provide more heat and humidity plus darkness and the mold or mildew might be worse. That's just a guess, not from experience. Be sure your cover "breathes" adequately.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

I tried the Awesome product but it did not work on my trim. I even used it at full strength. Thanks for the tip though.

We're not in the panhandle but down in Clearwater where it has been in the 90's and super humid with a dew point ranging from the mid 70's to mid 80's since we got here back in July. We also have spent the past 3 winters down here and have noticed no adverse effects to the Monty but I will admit this weather has had a ton of adverse effects on yours truly.

We are full timers and therefore we do not use a cover and never will. I believe all Montana's get that mold appearing stain on the trim and not just those in Florida or those left uncovered. Try some denatured alcohol for those stains. Available at Wal*Mart in the paint department.

Thanks for the tip Glenn & Lorraine; I'll do just that. I think I will deploy that big 'ol cover BTW and see how it goes.

Just another idea, look around to see if you can find some indoor storage. Many fairgrounds, and convention centers that are not used all the time rent out their buildings for trailer storage. Seems to me the average price for that is somewhere between $2 - 4 a foot. Might be well worth the $60 - 80 a month to have that baby inside.

Also I have never been a fan of rv covers, I have seen the damage they can do. The rubbing on the coach from the cover can cause some high $$ repair bills. Again, just my opinion...

As stated on a different thread, I just contracted for covered storage. $900/year, secured, 24 hour access...and the Montana is out of the sun/rain/sleet/snow, etc. It's worth it to me for piece of mind....I sure would not leave my $60k car outside.
