As brand-loyal as I have become, I love the new Dodge..........especially the dually.

The Laramie Longhorn is a beauty. The 3500 for 2013 had a high output 385 hp with 850 lb-ft torque. It also has a Aisin 6 speed transmission. This trans has been used for years in 4500, 5500 and 6500 trucks. It is easly as good as an Allison. In the middle of the 2013 Ram 2500-3500 broshure is a picture of a 3500 Laramie Longhorn pulling a MONTANA. I havn't made up my mind to buy a 2014 Laramie Longhorn or a F350 King Ranch. Its a tough choice. I am hearing a little rumors about Ram not coming through on warrenties. I am still managing a Aamco Transmission business and talking to parts and seervice people daily.

I can say that I love my 2013 Ram 3500 Laramie. It has the Aisin transmission and 4.1 rear end. Pulls like a dream. Also installed the B&W turnover ball and the newly designed Companion Hitch. Great combo.

I have to admit, my 3500 is one of the favorite vehicles I have ever owned. Until Lexus comes out with a 3500, I will be riding the Dodge brand

My 2007 Ram 3500 is my first Dodge other than a van back in the 1970's. It has been so trouble free in its first 105,000 miles and still drives, rides, and looks like new that we've decided if we were to get a new tow vehicle it would be another Ram. I'd love to have one of the new ones. They're gorgeous. But first I need to get that winning lottery ticket.

My son is a manager at a Dodge dealer. Just looked at one yesterday. Beautiful and apparently soundly improved. Yet my TV has only 95,000 miles and is paid for, hard to beat. Think I can resist.

I like that you get it from the factory with the air bags installed, plus it looks like it has an air tank - which would be great to hook up to a set of air horns. Now if I could just find a nice set of Nathan Airchimes for under $500! (For the uninformed, Nathan has been supplying diesel/electric locomotives with air horns for years.)

Please no hackles, I am not being critical here, just asking a question. I always heard "airbags" don't increase weight capacity. It's all suppose to be based on axle rating. So I assume, the axle rating is high on the Ram's, the airbags just help keep truck level? Please explain. Oh for the Record, I own three new 2014 Chrysler products, so I am part of Dodge family! SRT8 Jeep, SRT8 Charger and Jeep Overland! Also a 600 HP 2010 SRT8 Charger! I just like the look of the Ford Trucks! Got to love that Ford Grill !!! Lol. I would have bought the "Long Hauler" had it been built by factory, and not ordered through vender!

Yes and no. Air bags do not increase what an axle is rated for, but they do supplement what springs can handle since they mount between the axle and the frame and work in addition to the springs. However, that is NOT the purpose of air bags. They are used to help level the tow vehicle once the trailer weight (5th wheel or standard tow) have been added.

I'll believe that when it comes out with an oil change interval of 300,000 miles, or as they say..."it's good for life."

Hmmmm the only bad thing about them is it seems the factory pricing, which starts above $60K for a nice one. But my 07 Sport, which has heavier leather then the Laramie, only needs a new set of shocks right now and is running strong and still gets a lot of "Hey nice lookin truck". But it is really hard to pass up on all the new gadgets they have on the new ones, love gadgets lol lol. Oh and mine already has my Grover (firetruck) air horn installed. But if I hit the lotto all bets are off...lol lol

I priced a new 2014 Ram 3500HD Longhorn DRW and the MSRP was just over $71k. Saw a new 2014 F350 King Ranch at $73k yesterday. Makes more sense to buy a Freightliner Sportchassis M2 at $85k as that is twice the truck for capacity and 3x's the truck for mileage and overall power train life.

Yes and no! Both those dually trucks can be purchased in high 50s new. Our local Ford dealer (Corning Ca) sells them at Internet pricing at $58,000 to $62,000 loaded! The problem like with my F 450 for example and bigger trucks, you open up an entirely new ball game. In Cal your dealing with DOT and CA permits and expensive insurance! Adds lots of cost to ownership!

Not to mention you now have an even bigger run around vehicle once parked in the CG.

We just picked up our 2104 Ram dually 2 wheel drive single cab less than 16th of October. Great ride and towing. My big complaint is that we ordered the 32 gallon tank standard on 8'beds but come to find out that it has only a 28 gallon tank. This is because they needed room for the DEF tank. Unfortunately for us the dealer did not let us know this & we promptly ran out of fuel. When I complained to the dealer that he should have let us know this, his comment was "yours was the 1st 2014 I ordered and was ordering blind and didn't know". I asked him why the paperwork he provided didn't show the 28 gallon tank & he had no answer.
There are several other "issues" we had with this dealership that are still not resolved. While I love our new truck, I will not recommend Lithia Dodge of Missoula Montana. Others may have had better luck but they took all the joy out of buying our new truck. Hugs, Di

I want to share an interesting experience. As I said I love the Ram but I did a prebuild on line. What I found was, when you added one option something else you wanted got removed. So I went to dealer. After nearly two hours , the knowledgable dealer showed many combinations I wanted were not available. This may have been corrected, but as example if you wanted a sunroof, rear window defroster and sliding power rear window at least one item was not available? Upgraded front axle then some other item was not available ! When we ordered the F450 the delete items were rare. Even allowed F550 axles. It appeared Ford had fewer restrictions. That may have changed with Ram 3500 now 2014 ordering is open. But this was just my experience. I did get the chassis truck additional rear fuel tank in my F 450 and can go about 875 miles towing ! That's why I originally wanted the Ram Longhauler !
