Side Won’t Go In

We have a 2010 3400 RL. We we tryed to put the sides in and big slide out gets stuck. In goes in part way then gets cocked. The top of the side hits the top of the slide frame and stops. The bottom keeps coming in, lifting up the floor until it can’t go any further. We are trying to figure out how to get the slide in, so we can’t take the trailer to a repair shop. Any ideas?

Obviously something is wrong. Put it back out and have someone send it back in (a little at a time ) while you watch carefully from underneath. Also make sure nothing inside is preventing its travel.

This is just a guess, but extend the slide again and look underneath for 2 gear racks. There should be a square shaft almost the width of the slide underneath connecting the gears on each rack. There should be a 1/4" bolt about 1.5" long with a nut on it holding the square shaft to a round pinion shaft coming from a gear. If it is broken or missing, your slide will cock and jamb up coming in.

This is a generic photo

If it's electric gear driven you may have to disconnect a gear, or if hydraulic, disconnect part if the linkage. Then have a team of people help you push the slide in. Cut two pieces of wood to place at each end of the slide inside so it can't move out while you're traveling to the fixer-upper place.
