Did the MORryde Upgrades!

Ok y'all we finally did it - took a trip out to MORryde and got upgrades done to our Montana 3700LK and WOW what a difference!

We had 7k IS and disc brakes installed with heavy duty Timken bearings, 17.5" Goodyear G114, and MORryde pin box. While we were there, we traded our Pullrite hitch for a Trailer Saver TS3 air-ride hitch. The new pin box handles the front-back chucking and the air-ride hitch handles the up and down bouncing. Our ride back felt more like riding in a car than a 1 ton dually pulling 17,600 5th wheel. If you're thinking about having this done, or on the fence ... DO IT! The best upgrades we've done so far and worth every penny!

We've done that with both of our Monty's and after 100k between the two have never regretted it.

It depends on what you want to include and when you do it. They give a discount if you do it during the winter months. The 7k with disc brakes and Timken bearings was about $6300 I think. I had mine done also 3 years ago at Mor-Ryde. Most people I think go with the 8,000 pound suspension and at the time it was 500.00 more. I also went with the 7,000 pound suspension on account the 7,000 pound is still stronger than the factory suspension and I wanted the better ride also. I told Sergio to install what he thought it needed and he choose the 7k. Our rv's aren't really heavy enough to need more and mine has worked flawlessly. Some people get a false sense you can load more in your rv with heavier suspension but this is not the case as your frame is still the same and we should all try to stay within the manufactures limits. I also have the Trailer Saver TS-3 air-bag hitch and the combination gives you the best ride possible yet I still cracked 2 factory wheels. Now I have changed all the wheels out and hope I have no more problems with them. You have spent a lot of money but it all has to do with safety and hopefully you will have many years trouble free miles. Just remember to pack your wheel bearings and inspect the brakes once a year. I had to replace the brake pads on last inspection but it is very easy. Safe Travels.

That's awesome! Isn't Sergio great? He was our tech too. Brian told me the only difference between the 7k and the 8k is the metal on the 8k is a little thicker. We did get the 17.5 Goodyears and wheels. Very happy so far!

Thanks for the information! We plan to do this immediately upon retirement if we don't decide to buy a new rig. And if we buy a new rig, I'm going to have the upgrades included in the deal and take the unit directly from Keystone to Morryde!

You are correct in that the difference between the 7k and 8k in the gauge of metal. I have looked at the 8k along side my 7k and the design looked the same and they both have the 8k rotors if someone gets the disc brakes. Some people forget you add about 300 pounds more weight with the 7k and more than that with the 8k. I didn't go in there with any preconceived ideas but wanted what they recommended after they weighed my rv. I thought 500.00 more was very reasonable for the 8k but Rob who was the shop manager at the time told me 7k was plenty strong for the weight of the rv and like you, wanted a better riding rv and the shear springs on the 8k would be a little stiffer. I am very happy with the improvements and all I do is grease 4 fittings once or twice a year. Keystone could take lessons from Mor-Ryde on quality control. This is the best improvement you will ever do to an rv. Safe travels and hope to see you at some rally some day.

I agree and thanks for the input! Brian is the manager there now and I told him "you guys do this every day - I'm a computer geek, so let's do what you think is the best way to go." LOL

We are intending to attend the national rally this year, so hopefully we'll meet a lot of y'all while were there - looking forward to it!

I think someone may have answered this before (maybe DQDick). Does Morryde carry tires and heavier rims?


Will they also install steps and TV sliding mounts?

They install steps at the Rally. not sure about where they do the IS.

I have installed the steps. They are not that hard

They do the IS at MORryde in Elkhart. They also do the tires, brakes, wheels, steps, pin box - pretty much everything, you just need to get an appointment scheduled for what you want done and they'll do it all in one shot.

Sounds like my kind of place and from what I hear they do first rate work while you stay in your rig! Can't beat that!

They are fantastic! You can stay in your rig overnight after they are done working for the day (they start at 6:00 and quit at 3:00). Electric only hookup but they do have a bathroom you can use. While waiting during the day you can hang out there or go out and about. They give you lunch each day while you're there too.
