Pin box tri-pods

We were camping for the first time in our new High Country 321MK and noticed several of the 5th wheels around us had tri-pod supports under their pin box. Is this something that is necessary or is it just an option. I'm curious.

I really don’t believe they do very much. Most I’ve seen aren’t stout enough to support the weight of the pin box

Snake oil. Use your money on worthwhile items.

We were lucky and sold ours for $20. Most folks we know had to give theirs away.

I’m sure if you look around you will find someone who will give you one but don’t take it.

I think it funny when I see one under an air pin-box or even a rubber one what's the point!

I like mine? It takes a little shake out, but nothing is 100% unless you take the tires off the ground.

We put strong arms on the landing gear and chock locks on the tires and no tripod needed.

I guess it's a mute point for me anyway as I have an Anderson hitch. After looking at them, I couldn't imagine they did much of anything in regard to holding up or making the rig more stable.

Thanks for all the good information and advice. I spent my money on a good EMG system to keep my electric equipment safe.

If you get it really tight, like with a wrench, it's better than nothing. However, I did sell mine.

I guess I am the odd one out because I like mine. It does seem to help with reducing the vibration of the washer in the bedroom closet.

agree, in our last rig, the washer and dryer were up front in the bedroom closet, the tripod greatly reduced the shaking during spin cycle. Our current rig has the washer and dryer over the axles, no shake. I no longer need the tripod

James I have seen them do damaged to the bottom of the slide and get the slide misaligned!

-King pin tri pod (worthless)
-Slide out supports (worthless) and may cause more damage than they are worth.
- ST strong arms (or similar product (worth there weight in gold) Get them, you will be amazed at the difference in stability they create.
