Installing Splendide Washer/Dryer

The Splendide 7100XC should arrive within a few days for our 2013 Monty 3100RL. We looked up installation instructions BUT we don't know if we need the mounting brackets. So I was wondering what the rest of you did for yours? Was there any special tips/tricks for getting it into the trailer and/or installing it that we should know?

I appreciate any help you can provide!

Our whirlpools came with staking brackets! I would assume its a standard item?

Good to know. This is the unit where it is just a single unit that does the drying and washing in the same thing...it is not even vented. Something about it vents via the water lines. Supposedly it is like a European model.

We have the combo unit and love it. I had a pan made for mine that drains outside just in case. We don't have the brackets and don't seem to need them. Get the vented model. You will be putting the moisture back in your trailer if you don't. It is European, made in Italy. There is a set of instructions on how to do wash in it. My DW has it on her computer if you don't get it with the washer.

Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, I already ordered the ventless model because that is what Keystone said our model was for. The only good thing for me is that we are only weekenders so there won't be a lot of washing done in the trailer and we live in Montana where it is SUPER DRY! So keep your fingers crossed moisture won't be a problem for us. I do appreciate the input!

We have the vented model, but other than that I assume they are the same. One thing to watch (I do the laundry even though guys aren't supposed to) it's a much better machine than it's tiny size indicates. The first load I did by just looking at the dials (we had similar LG's at the S&B) came out with the wash clean and the dryer shrinking Joyce's socks so small we gave them to the granddaughter for doll socks. Learned my lesson, (seriously heard about guys and instruction manuals ) and have been fine every since.

Carol,
I have the same set up for my washer/dryer as you have, in the front of the bedroom, and mine is vented. Whoever told you that you needed a ventless model is full of it. This is just me but if I were you, I'd change to a vented model.

X2 Jim's comments. I've read on numerous forums that most people aren't really happy with the ventless versions (seems to take even longer to dry). Yes it would be nice to not have a hole in the side, but it just makes sense to me that clothes will dry better exhausing the moisture outside. We had put the vented combo in our Montana and ordered it installed in our new SOB (hated to punch a hole in the side of a Brand New unit). Maybe someone will come along with their experience with the ventless version.

X3 on sending it back if you can. Never fun to cut a hole, but it wasn't that hard and I wouldn't want it any other way.

X5 on Jim's comments, you DO NOT want one without the vent, your Montana will be a steam bath, also you may have some doors to remove and re install, Ron

UPDATE: I spoke to Splendide and did some research. Evidently the model I ordered, 7100XC, is a truly ventless model, and is I guess new technology. There is no way for condensation to enter your trailer because it uses cold water to condense the hot water and then it drains out the drain into grey water tank. Per Splendide this is different than what people used to call 'ventless', which used to mean you took a vented model and didn't vent it to the outside but vented it inside using a ball to supposedly prevent moisture from entering the air. The ball never worked and you will fill your trailer with condensate. He said the new model is based on some European technology that uses an extra 2.5 gal of water per hour of dry time to dry your clothing. Dear hubby has informed me that we are going to try it out and if we are not happy we will return it. He does NOT want to cut any holes into the trailer because we are having a hell of a time mouse proofing the holes that already exist. (We live near several large farm fields).

So we will install it, I will use it, and I will report back to you my honest findings! I am sure if I was living in it full time I would want a vented model but for our week long trips this should be fine....keep your fingers crossed!

I do appreciate all of your input and will make sure I keep an eye out for condensation entering the trailer.

I woiuld love to know how 2.5 gallons of WATER helps dry clothes but good luck and let us know how it works.

I'm guessing you are installing it in the bedroom closet. I suggest you remove the lower drawer and make darn sure the shelf you are going to sit the machine on has plenty of support beneath it. Mine had little and I beefed it up with 2X2 and 2X4's. The brackets keep it from walking around the closet.
