I also installed BAL scissor jacks behind the wheels a couple of years ago. On ours it does not eliminate horizontal movement although I think it helps. But it does totally eliminate the vertical bouncing. I used the included self tapping screws but was not sure how they would hold up. After two years they're still good and tight.

Have to say, I am very happy with these: http://jtrv.com/our_products.html

Front and back cost $500. They weight about 40 pounds (at least the box did that they came in), and it takes me no time at all to loosen, let down the jacks and then tighten. The best part is that I don't have to stow or retrieve - they are permanently mounted to the 5er.

Dave,
Here is a link to the one that I use. I got mine thrown in as part of my deal when ordering the 3400RL.

I have not had any trouble with the durability of this BAL product, while it does not take out all the movement, it sure does help.
This is the same one we use and it is steel and heavy but it does work. When not in use, I keep it in the TV betwwen the tool box and hitch.

Maybe the dealer will throw in a top-of-the-line tripod... no? I'll take anything right now - Cheryl's trying to get in shape anyway. Rich and I will probably sit back and have a cold one while we watch the girls rig up (and down). I'm new at this stuff, so I'm using Rich as my "role model"...

It would be different if we were weekenders. I could take my time and pick stuff up for our 3400 a little at a time. But FTing adds a sense of urgency to getting these things ASAP, although, some items will have to wait. Rich has let me know that borrowing all of his stuff is out...

I do like the stabilizers that Snfexpress uses, though. Just wish that gal in their video - that's pushing on the side of the 5ver - weighed more than 50#... Let me give that thing a shove...

Dave,

I weigh 280, and I couldn't move the nose...And, my wife, at 135, can't get a tripod stabilizer out of the basement easily unless I tell her she is a wimp...Then WATCH OUT!

Thanks, Mike! Sounds like they should have used you for the video... I will not be able to spring for this right away, unfortunately. But I will work on it. I was impressed with the info on the video. Their claim of being as steady as your house, is a strong statement, though. Made me wince... If they would have said "almost" as steady as your house, I would still have been happy. I hate to see anyone open themselves up to, "Hey! You told me..."

Dave,

They ere $500 from a dealer - wanted them in just a few days. I understand you can get them directly from jtrv.com, now.

We havea 3400RL and an 80# dog who plays ball with us in the living room. Some bounce (as opposed to wiggle), but that isdue to being on tires.

We like it, as I've said. On ebay, you can find look-a-likes for less, but I didn't like their construction.

Just my 2 cents' worth...

Rich, if you would go to bed at night and go to sleep then wiggle in the trailer would not be an issue.
Now here is a curve. I bought the King Pin Stablizer tripod and then bought installed the Trail Air King Pin box. Now I ask - what good is the stabilizer under the king pin if it is bouncing with a 80 PSI air bag and shock absorber cushion?

Dave your question is wide open for me to slam Rich again or about the Stabilizer Tripod. Let me start with the Tripod. First of all, the king pin will drop lower when it comes off the 5th wheel hitch. You have to raise the front jacks pretty high to get the stabilizer under the king pin, then when you lower the king pin into the stabilizer, the weight is riding on the air bag and shock absorber and they do what they are suppose to do when riding on the 5th wheel hitch - the absorb energy so you can still get a little movement. This past weekend was my first with the TrailAir King Pin and I am not for sure I will continue to carry the tripod. Jury is still out.

Dsprik, don't be in too big a hurry to buy all those things. First you need to figure out which things are "problems" needing a solution, for YOU. Not everything I consider a problem would be a problem for you and vice-versa. As a fulltimer you will "evolve" your rig over time. We're still making changes. And now with the new one coming we'll have to start all over again, although we do know some things we'll carry forward.
