GPS Navigation Systems
Did a search and picked up some information from several months ago, but since technology changes so quickly thought I would pop in for the "expert" opinion of our forum members.
As most of you have probably guessed by now I (Joyce) am the computer user in this family. Christmas is coming and I thought I would give Tom a GPS system for our use when traveling. Tom is retiring next spring so this will give him some time to learn the system and all the "bells and whistles" before we start our extensive retirement travels with the Montana.
In looking back in the forum I read info about Garmin and DeLorme but it seems both are used in conjunction with laptops or PC. I do have a laptop, but don't want the GPS to become my "toy" instead of Tom's ... So today I went to Best Buy to do some research. I was impressed with the new Magellan Roadmaster 700 (although a little pricy)and was wondering if any of our members are using this system. Looks like this system is ready to go out of the box and would require PC access only when doing a map update (which is annually at most) according to info I have read.
Would appreciate any feedback from members on what you like and do not like about your GPS system, and also any experience with the Magellan systems. Thanks
