Rearview camera always on

Hi, newbie here.

We have a new-to-us 2016 3100RE, my Furrion camera is always on when 12V power is activated.
I want to wire in a switch, was wondering how it is wired. This Monty has the rear entertainment setup (lighted nick-nack shelf above a sound bar above a TV above a fireplace), I believe I can access the wiring to the camera through the nick-nack shelf 12V puck light centered right above it and crimp in a switch to access when we get to our destination when we don't need the camera on (but still need 12V power).
I climbed the rear ladder and can't see that the camera would be wired into the clearance light -- it stays on no matter if the clearance/running lights are on or off.

Has anyone done this before and can provide any tips?

Lou

I needed a switch on the camera for a different reason. Here is what I used: https://www.amazon.com/DONJON-Wirele...s%2C207&sr=8-4
If you can find your power source for the camera this will allow you to control it from the truck or anywhere within about 200 feet with the relay mounted in my kitchen cabinet.

My 2015 camera was wired the same way. I had the techs at the Fall Rally rewire it to be powered with the clearance lights.
They removed the camera and cut and secured the + wire.
Removed the clearance lights and fished a new wire down from the camera and tied it into the + wire of the lights.

I like that setup MUCH better.
