John, what is the size of that socket? I believe it was mentioned on our last "water heater" (the one where I showed off my wisdom), but I can't remember the size.

The size is 1-1/16 inches for the Suburban Water Heater.

When you are going to drain and flush the HW tank don't forget to put the water input to "bypass". I replace the rod every year. New year-new rod-new water filter-new smoke detector battery (cheap insurance). Also wear a swim suit when you flush out the HW tank. Even standing around the corner I still get wet. When I winterize I remove the rod and snip off the rod and just put the nut part back in.
