Counter cleaning question

I recently managed to get a mustard stain on the large sink cover. (I have the newer composite counters.) Any ideas how to safely clean it?

Just yesterday I used a paste of Comet to remove a red ink (probably) stain from our older counter. It came up very easily. You may want to try something like a Comet paste repeatedly at short internals. It didn't seem to harm the counter since it didn't stay there for very long. Good luck!

Hi Twink,

The factory said very fine abrasive. I would start with something like "Soft Scrub" or "Vim", then if necessary, move on to Marine or Automotive rubbing compound, and if all else fails, very fine abrasive paper (400 grit), the kind that is used wet.

Thanks folks. I have some Soft Scrub on hand, so I think I'll give that a try first. Will let you know how it goes.

Actually on thinking about a bit more, the yellow in mustard is mostly from the tumeric they put in it. It will probably come out with bleach, I think Comet contains some bleach, so Judy's suggestion may be a good one to start with.

I guess it must be. Nowadays, it is like Soft Scrub, but many years ago, when we lived in England, Vim was a powdered scouring powder, like Comet or Ajax that my mother used for house cleaning.

Will hydrogen peroxide work on dentures or like surfaces?

I have no experience with it, but sounds like it might be the answer to many annoying problems.

No one around here is old enough for dentures () but I would suspect it would work. Hydrogen peroxide is a great wound cleaner so I don't think it will damage many things. Testing a spot is always a good idea.

Great tip, Rickety. I, too, will keep this one at hand. I wonder if it would work for those little red bug stains that tend to accumulate on the nose. Probably.
