How much gear do you carry in your RV?

Specifically, the weight of food, clothing, cleaning supplies, water, toys, campsite gear, pet gear, tools etc. I know options and installed items add weight but for this discussion I want to leave them off. Not everybody wants a W/D or on board genny or extra awnings and so forth. Just trying to figure on a typical load out of your personal stuff. Then I can decide what optional extras we can also carry weight wise. I can't get a handle on how much we would be carrying of our own stuff. My best guess is around 2000 lbs for the above mentioned items.

If you don't know and your weight tickets which include everything, then what other gear do you have on board that accounts for your numbers. I know a genny(onan weighs about 250 lbs, W&D adds about 250 lbs, etc MY best guess at solar would be around 500 lbs for the whole setup as I envision it. I figure the personal gear load out should be fairly uniform among fulltimers.

Well I have no idea exactly what is on board. We are long timers so we travel a bit heavy. The 13 3402 allegedly weighs 12901 empty with a Carry capacity of 3099lbs GVW 16K.We have not been weighed for a while but when we last were weighed at the fall rally we were over 15K and we were loaded for our Florida winter trip. That was kind of a throat clutcher for me and we did unload a few things later. We are well under all specs and that is our primary concern. IMO if one can not put 1500 lbs of stuff in the Montana they are not trying very hard

For us, it's right at 3,000# and we don't have a washer/dryer or generator.

The last weigh numbers I have are with 67gal of freshwater and empty gray and black tanks. No W/D installed.

For a 6 month trip, subtracting the water weight we had just under 2410# in our 2010 295RKD (reportedly 9895 empty; 4335 CC).

This included all of our kitchen cooking/eating stuff, grill, grill tank, fishing gear, and tackle boxes, screen tent, spring/summer/fall clothes, books, travel literature (20#), cats and their stuff (40# cat litter), a couple folding bikes, leveling bricks/blocks, water/sewer hoses, and fittings, full 22" toolbox, two 12v batteries, 2KW Inverter Gen, 2 laptops, and networking gear, two folding lounge chairs, couple folding camp chairs, pin tripod, 15' 50amp extension cable, various power adapters and surge protector, 7 foot fold-down ladder. I know there was some other stuff but can't remember what it was.

After the trip, I discovered there were several items I could leave at home the next time to shed some weight.

That's nearly an impossible ? to answer. I have had our rig fully loaded to the max for a 2 week trip boondocking with 300lbs of ice/3500 generator/food/clothes/firewood/etc. etc. etc. I took it across the dump scale and was very near its max of 15650lbs GVW.

When we travel we don't carry anything that isn't absolutely necessary. I dont have any pets so that's a plus for sure. I do however carry a table for my Q grill. I have been to campgrounds that didn't have picnic tables. Food is another thing. Before we set out I try to eat as much at home as we can and don't go to the store to get more we don't have to pack a bunch of food. If I don't have something I can always buy it someplace.

i pack appropriate clothing for the trip a few coats and a couple sweatshirts. here I don't pack what I am not going to use. It's stupid to bring a suit and tie and eat at McDonald's LOL We dont eat out on our trips because that gets expensive. I never cook in our rv because of the grease so I always cook outside unless the weather is bad then we eat out.

I mounted a 5 gallon of propane bottle where the generator is supposed to be. I had a hose shop make me a 15' hose so I can leave the bottle where it's at and just run the hose to the grill. Those little bottles are expensive.

Tools are another thing. I carry a set of 3/8 drive sockets channel locks vice grips hacksaw a set of drill bits battery drill and 2 batteries. Calking gun and a tube of silicone LOL I use the drill to lower my stabilizers in the back.I carry a socket and ratchet and breaker bar to change a tire if need be. If I need to torque a tire I take it to a tire shop for that. They will do it for free. I also always travel with a full tank of fresh water. A full tank doesn't slosh around like a half full tank does.

I pack 2 chairs but we go so much that we hardly ever use them.

We don't camp at all. So much to see in America you wouldn't believe unless you travel like we do. What a beautiful country we live in. happy trails to you O.P.

Given that our 2019 Montana 3121RL has a listed dry weight of 12,000 lbs and our trip loaded trailer for a 7,000 mile trip (67 gallons of freshwater and empty waste tanks, full propane, food, clothes, 400 watts of solar, etc.) weighed 14,282 lbs on the CAT scales the morning we left home we had 2,282 lbs of stuff in it. The GVWR on our Montana is 16,350 lbs. Our pin weight was 20% (2,800 lbs) of that 14,282 lbs.

#1 - calculate your max towing weights. You really don't want to tow the max.
#2 - load the beast up and weigh it
#3 - off load non essentials - you will do this over time as you won't use some items or can go without.

I carry very little freshwater (I've seen lots of commentary for yes and no). I've pulled a lot of passes out west and don 't choose to haul fresh water up and down them - have always been able to fill up at next destination - even boondocking. One thing you have to watch out for is weight creep as you add items to the rv over time. It'll surprise you.

About a year ago I found that our 2012 Montana 3450RL was right at it's GVWR, and I had over 1,000 pounds to spare on the 2012 F350. I determined this by weighing 3 times: 1.the full rig 2. truck only 3. trailer only. I pulled a few items out and left them home, stopped carrying those extra cases of beverage that we got on sale, and got a bigger toolbox for the truck. I moved all my tools from the camper to the truck, plus the Blue DEF, plus the 50lb box of car litter. When I weighed again in April I had a few hundred pounds to spare.

We weighed our rig and truck. Total 28000. RV 16550, the rest is the truck. The specks for our RV w/o add ons is 16000. We have a washer and dryer, a solar system and an onan generator 7000. Plus, a whole host of other stuff cuz we live in it now...go figure...how we didn't end up with a bunch more weight I don't KNOW!
