Ceiling paddle fan in living room

The paddle fan in our living room hits the slide outs when they are 'in'.
In order to retract the slides we have to move the port side (couch) 'in' first while my wife stands on the recliner and holds the fan blade up, then move the starboard slide (table) 'in' far enough for her to push the fan blade above the trim around the slide. Once the blade is riding on the slide out trim, she comes out and we can continue moving the slide into position.
The fan's lowest point is 7.75" below the ceiling but the slide out clearances are only 6.625" so of course the fan hits the trim. Has anyone changed the fan to something that is a bit more shallow.

Is your fan factory installed or was it installed after market?

Either way, it sounds like you need a ceiling hugger fan, not one that dangles from a post.

Amazon has some. You did not say if your fan is 12 volt DC, or 120 volt AC. THAT will make a difference.

But, here's one that would work for you if your current set up is DC 12 volt: 4 and 1/4 inches deep.

Amazon, click here.

Our fan is a factory installed unit. I sticks down into the room too far. It is 12 vdc and I like the one you sent. Thanks.

Try flipping the blades over. Likely they have sagged, mine have.

If you have the tools, you can probably cut 2" off the tube that hangs down.

Try this. It has happened before.
