Anybody experience water condensation in those big in bed tanks?

You need to keep those tanks full, especially if not being used for a while to prevent condensation for occurring.

I've used the same tank for 17 yrs and have never had a condensation problem. Also my truck sits outside year round and Mi. winters aren't always gentle

Never had a problem with mine the 4 years I had it. I had a lift pump with a primary & secondary filter, the only thing I ever found in the primary was metal from cutting the tank down.

What do you think might be wrong with my tank? The gauge seems to be fine. Do you think there is something inside the tank taking up 7 gallons of volume? Curious about your thoughts a anxious to fix this.

When the dealer installed my under body tank from transfer flow they said there would be 5 gallons I couldn't pick up.

But then would be true of just about all fuel tanks OEM or otherwise. Even many in-bed transfer or Aux tanks will have a certain amount of fuel capacity that cannot be used due to physics or design. Having said that , any increase in usable range has its advantages... and disadvantages.
Would I like to have more range, sure but with a tiny bit of preplanning our 250-300 range seem to be fine for what we do. YMMV as they say.
For an Alaska trip, we may invest on a 5 gallon can for a bit of extra peace of mind in the event we have to even use it. Gas Buddy has a travel calculator which shows you where each of your stops will be within your tank and mpg limits.
The Titan tank is a great option, don't get me wrong but it is pricey but when bed space is at a premium it could be worthwhile. In-bed systems can be less costly or more if you want all the bells and whistles. Range anxiety is not a constant problem in most places so it seems, to me , to be hard to justify the added cost of any substantial fuel capacity improvements over the stock OEM setup. Fuel cards are better spent on more fuel not on more range. A few extra stops to get it is not a heavy price to pay. It will take years for most people to recoup the fuel tank cost when you are talking about $1000+ to have bragging rights. More power to you, after all it's a choice and its your money.

When we did Alaska in 2014 I carried two 6 Gal Poly cans and had occasion to use them several times, just to make sure we didn't run out before we reached the next station than had Diesel.

I have been to to Alaska twice. First time with an enlarged under the frame 52 gallon tank, but the last time with my OEM tank that holds 36 gallons. In neither case did I come close to running out of fuel. I was careful and planned ahead and didn't drive too far each day.

There is no way to recoup the cost of a bigger tank unless you can put a price on peace of mind.
I had a 52Gal replacement tank put in a 2008 I had. I had a shop with a tuner do some changing to the programming to make the gauge work correctly and then it was still always a little funky in the fuel range. In this truck I had a 50gal in bed tank (Transfer Flow) put in, they undercoated the whole tank for more durability. It"s only about 18" deep and fits under the bed cover. Have had no problem with condensation, and it's easy to change the filter annually in the top of the tank and no gauge or range problems.

An added cost for many is installation. I bought and installed my TransFer Flow in the first truck in 03. When that truck was sold I took the tank out myself and installed in the next truck. I'm still using that same tank and of course 17 years ago the price was considerably less

Yes I installed gravity feed 40 gallon aux tank. Only 6 wide then I put my 7000 honda up against it. Still have lots of room for hitch . never run out now lol I hope or forgot if I filled the spare or not lol
