Frozen sewer discharge hose
Question from an idiot!
A severe cold snap dropped the temperature to -12 Celsius and my sewer hose is frozen and the black tank is full. I had inadvertenly forgotten to completely close one of the grey tank valves. It is now fully closed.
To thaw the hose would it be harmful to run hot water from the the taps and shower, and then add non-toxic anti freeze before opening the tank valves?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I dont think anti-freeze will help to thaw the blockage. It is designed to lower the freeze temperature when well mixed. It would only help prevent what it mixes with in the tank from freezing at the correct mixture. Running hot wate may help depending on how much is already in the tank. If the tank is near empty then yes, but I imagine anything over half full will not do much.
Do you have tank heaters? I know they dont heat much, just enough to keep from freezing.
I dont have any suggestions.

Adding hot water will probably do nothing except cause a bigger block of ice. You can pour hot water on top of the ice in the tank, but if the hot water can't seep through the pipes to reach the blockage further down stream, what good will that do. Your drain pipes are frozen. Your best bet to get things flowing again is to have the patience of Job and a good hand-held hair blow dryer, and a comfortable mat to lay on the ground under your back.

If it frozen in the tank. Turn on your tank heaters and your furnace. Boil salt water. With LOTS of salt. Pour it into the tank. Put a hair dryer underneath on the suspect frozen area.
If frozen drain pipe/hose, hair dryer.

Disconnect the frozen hose (use hair drier if necessary) go buy a new hose at Walmart.

I'd go with an adjustable heat gun being very careful not to melt the hose. A second option would be to use a heat cable under it and a blanket over it. All that said, if you don't have an adjustable heat gun or a heat cable of that length it's probably going to be cheaper to buy a new hose than either one of those.

Frozen Sewer Hose
Thanks to all for your suggestions.
Problem solved.
I disconnected the hose and poured a couple of pails of hot water into it and this did the trick.
