Make it look brand new!

Just had my " minion" apply Maguires ( spelling?) to my 3750 and WOW what a shine! It's their RV formula . He applied by hand. 3 hours ! Looks great and feels very smooth. All black streaks gone and even delcals feel nice and slippery! Had several complements, from neighbors, thought I bought new RV to match new 2014 truck! I really recommend these products. Blue container for RV product, bought it at Amazon! One bottle was enough ! Used "Woolf Gang" sealer on new 2014 F450 Ford! The two units should be on a Montana brochure! They look beyond new!!!

Three hours is a lot less time then it takes me. Did he apply to the vinyl graphics?

I have used Mequires for all my RVs and boats that have a gel coat. Annually, I start with either #44 or #49 for oxidation and bad black streaks. Be careful with these as they are very powerful. I then use #50 on the entire RV, including decals. This product will work on normal black streaks. It is a cleaner and a polish. I then use #56, pure wax, on the entire RV, including decals. Two complete applications usually takes me about 8-12 hours. I have had no decal problems and my boat and RV look absolutely great.

I have been using Meguires for years on all the fivers I have had. My current 08 Monty looks like new as I hand wax it every spring.

Glad somebody else out there cannot do a wax job in 3 hours. By the time I apply the wax, let dry, buff off, I end up doing one half of the fiver one day, one half the second day, and the front and rear caps the third day. Twice a year. I have been told by multiple dealers to not wax the graphics, so correct or incorrect, I am careful to not get wax on the graphics. So three hours times two plus 1 hour: takes me 7 hours.

It was a 3 day event for me too, but since this is a new-to-me 2010, I have no idea if it had been done before. I de-oxidized first. We'll see how long the next trip around takes. Anybody got a "minion" I can borrow? Can't find any around my house.

These posts about waxing the decals really have me curious. Do the "new" graphics (decals) differ from the older peeling ones (been there, done that) that specifically came with instructions to not wax them and especially if the wax has any petroleum based products in them? Just curious and seeking information for no other reason than to satisfy my curiosity.

I used a Meguier's carnauba auto wax on mine. Covered the decals and everything. I didn't read the ingredients so I don't know about petroleum products. All I can say is, the whole trailer came out looking good. Down the road, who knows? Maybe waxing the decals is a bad call, but it never bothered my Cougar TT.

Auto wax is for clear coat not gel coat finishes. Would highly recommend a wax made for gel coat. The Meguiars products in the blue containers are for gel coat. They specifically state "RV and Marine." As stated above, I have always waxed my decals on all my RVs and boats since 1994 and never had a problem. As for my new Big Sky with the full body paint, I had the poly coating applied which is guaranteed for 5 years and never needs waxing.

I have waxed decals for the better part of 25 yrs. and had no ill results from doing so. Waxed my race cars that was covered in decals and graphics with no problem. Waxed my RV's also with no ill effects. I wax 2-3 times a yr. by hand with Mothers Carnuba and all is well.

Captain Joe, what is the poly coating. Not familiar with it. y next unit will be full body paint, that de-oxidizing is a pain in the ---.

Hey Artemus,

I haven't been on for a while. Congrats on the new truck - man I have MAJOR truck envy now!

Kerry,
The info on my poly coating is in the RV, which is at Camping World having a satellite dish installed. When I get the RV back, I will look for the brochure/contract regarding the poly coating that was applied to my full bodied paint Big Sky.

The results I've seen with "Zep Floor Finish Zuimage128 Floor Cleaner Stripper & Polish" is phenomenal. I friend uses it and only has to treat his trailer once every three years. The shine beats anything else out there hands down. And with care it will not harm decals. But keep it away from plastic parts (fender skirts, door & window frames, some latches, etc.).

I'm having it done to my Monte as we speak.

Poly coat = "ZEP wet look" coating for floors found at Home Depot. 20% poly in it. Much less expensive than the stuff they sell at camping stores and is the same thing. Clean well and apply when dry with a microfiber towel or applicator then just let it dry.Two coats lasts me about two years or better.

Carl,
They put two coats on mine with a microfiber towel and it is guaranteed for 5 years. I guess we will see. Still do not have my RV back, so the product they used is still not known.

Mine is down in the Florida sun all year so mine may wear a bit faster but it lasts pretty well.
