Dometic A/C operation issue

Good morning all. Well as camper owning goes I have ran into another issue with ours. When I got home from work yesterday the camper was sweltering inside and A/C was not running at all.
Turned the A/C off and back on at the thermostat and nothing happened.
The A/C was on Auto at 72 degrees but no fan and no unit would start.
I then switched the fan setting to High and still nothing would come on.
I then selected heat pump and the heat pump kicked right on. While the heat pump was running I switched the unit to A/C and high fan and it worked normally. Nice cold air flowing . After messing with it a few times I have definitely determined that it is a thermostat or controls issue I believe but I do not know the next step to take. The A/C will run fine on high or low but you have to start it in heat pump mode to make it kick on. It will not start on straight A/c mode with any setting of fan selected and if you switch the fan setting to auto it will turn off the unit and will not run at all in auto. Any help from the vast knowledge out there in the Montana world would be much appreciated. This is a Dometic A/C unit with heat pump in the rear of the fifth wheel.

Sometimes removing and replacing the thermostat cover helps with issues. Worth a try.

There is another thread in here on this, but Dometic has updated that thermostat cover. There is a 2 year warranty on the A/c. I emailed their support department using their online form and described the problem. They shipped me two new covers. They just snap in place.
