Inverter issue

The inverter that came with our 5th wheel wouldn’t reset the GFI . The dealer checked it out and said it needed to be replaced, they don’t just change the outlet. We didn’t have time to wait for one in Florida so we ordered our own and changed it ourselves. It worked great for one trip and now we have the same problem. The GFI won’t reset on the outlet. There must be something causing this to happen. If we purchase another it seems likely to happen again. Any ideas?

First we need to know what year and model your unit is! Next we need to know if you replaced the inverter or the converter on the unit? There is a difference. Give us this information and I think you will get a bunch of answers.

It might not help, but turn off the power disconnect that goes from battery/batteries to the inverter so that no 12vdc is being applied to the inverter. Then push in the reset button on the inverter before turning on the power to the inverter. Out of curiousity, what brand inverter is in your rig to power the residential fridge?

It’s a 2018 Montana 3701LK . We replaced the original inverter with an identical one. Haven’t had an issue with the converter.

Some of the oem used brands are not the best in design. I would suggest you look at xantrex as a brand. Once upon a time, there was an issue with gfci outlets to deal with another gfci in the same circuit. Don't know if this is still the case. If you do have another gfci in the same line as the fridge, you might want to take them offline by using their test button...then see if your inverter gfci will reset.

Just wondering what is your inverter supposed to run? Ours only runs the residential frig and there is no GFCI in that circuit (that I am aware of anyway). I did have an issue where the inverter was wired incorrectly to the TV and not the frig, but that was simply 2 wires switched.

Just curious

I tried to trip the GFCI in bathroom and the GFCI in the inverter would still not reset. This is so frustrating. Will try to get some tech support from Keystone.
