08 f250 pin weight

Can some one tell me how much pin weight a 08 f-250 6.4 diesel can safely pull? I have heard all of the posts about gross combined weight . how much pin weight are other f-250 owners pulling?

look at the door sticker it will tell you what the max payload can be, then subtract fuel, passengers and cargo. what you have left is how much pin weight your truck can handle. Also make sure you do not exceed your rear axle rateing and your rear tire ratings.

In my opinion if you really want to know what your truck is experiencing while hooked to your High Country go to a scale. See what the truck weighs solo, plus the front and rear axles. Then measure what you High Contry weighs unhooked from the tow vehicle with normal setup of how you usually have it loaded. Last but not least hitch up the unit and weigh each and every axle. That will give you your true hitch weight. I am sure you can pull weigh more than the truck is supposed to and there are people who do that everyday.
This is only free advice and you still get to do what ever you want. :-). Might not be what you really want to hear if all you want is what other 3/4 ton pickups are actually pulling weight wise.
There is a lot of aftermarket equipment you can add to tow vehicles but they don't change the sticker in the cab. I am not sure but I think you can also get different weight rating depending on what options the truck was ordered with. I was at a dealership in Phoenix last weekend and the 3/4 ton was rated at 10,000 and the SRW one ton was rated at 11,400 if I remember correctly. Same engine, transmission etc, just different spring packs etc, possibly different rearend. Probably both could tow the same amount just one handles hitch weight better.
Your High Country is lighter by design (if I remember correctly) and might match your trucks abilities just perfectly.

I ended up getting the high country because I had just purchased my truck the previous year. I think my truck was rated for 12,000 using a fifth wheel. my trailer weighs 11,700 I don't carry much in it(just use it for local camping right now) and never pull it with anything in the tanks. it's real borderline, but I have to pull it up and down a 8% grade by my house and it seems to do just fine even with the gas engine.

Look at the sticker on the door. Note the GVW of the truck. Note the carry capacity. Weigh the truck ready to tow, Full fuel, passengers, tools, etc. Subtract that number from the truck gvw. Example truck GVW 11,500 lbs . Truck actual weight 8,000 lbs ready t o tow. Actual carry capacity 3500lbs and what you have left for Pin weight.

Make sure that the hitch is capable of handling the weight. There are many different hitches with different capacities.

Don't confuse pin weight with pulling. A gasser can carry more pin weight since it does not have a heavy diesel engine. On the other hand, since it is a gasser, it pulls much less than the diesel.

Actual tow capacity...GCWR minus the tow vehicle's actual weight when ready to tow.
