Tires and TPMS

So here we are just traveling south on U.S. 395 about 30 miles north of Reno when I hear this faint beeping sound. Took us a couple of minutes to figure out where it was coming from. It turned out to be the TPMS. By the time we knew for certain what it was; I looked in the mirror and saw a faint wisp of smoke coming from the tire. Took me a minute to find a place to pull over.

Called AAA and they were out in about 20 minutes and changed the tire.

Moral of the story is to never cover up the monitor! We might have actually heard the beep if it had not been under my DW's purse!

No damage to trailer. So now off to the tire store for a replacement. The tire went down slowly with no tread separation. I suspect I picked up a nail or other foreign object. I'll know when I have the tire replaced. Happy Trails, Dennis

I have mine mounted on the left/lower side of the windshield. I guess I just like to monitor the temp/pressure too often to keep it anyplace else. That was pretty fast service out of AAA for the tire change. Glad everything turned out good.

TWENTY MINUTES!!

Wow Dennis, that must be a record.

That's great. Not the flat, but that response time. I am so impressed I cannot express!

X2, Rich. Mine is also on left hand windshield so I can see it (and hear it).

Glad it worked out for you. Our Dodge has a little worthless shelf at the top of the dash right over the radio. Our monitor fits right in it. Maybe that's what it was for?

That is amazing service. Can only hope Coach Net is that fast if I ever need them.

My monitor stays attached to the windshield center just barely above the dash. I am tall so it is well below eye level. I typically glance at the pressures every few minutes, pretty much unconciously out of habit now.

OK.... I did not mention that it took 15 minutes to get to the right people! But we had just passed a little town called Doyle. Of course the outfit that came to our aid was called Doyle Towing! I suspect that if they had requested service out of Reno it would have been longer. On average we have had good service from AAA. But twenty minutes was a very good response time.

And by the way we had a nice young lady stop at our location while we were waiting and asked if we needed any help. What a nice thing to do. Happy Trails, Dennis.

We use the same spot as DQDick. It is out of the way, doesn't fall down and we can both see it and more importantly hear it.
Glad everything worked out for you. Hugs and HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!! Di

PS IF we gals didn't have to carry all the stuff you boys can't fit in your pockets, we could toss our purse so it wouldn't cover up anything!
