Pilot Light help

Has anyone had any issues with the pilot light not staying light. I can not get the light to light up at all. I have propane to the stove but no oven. Any thoughts

I've had some trouble with that on both of ours. It took me 2 years before Stiles pointed out I had to push in the knob to get the pilot light to get gas.

Even though I can get it to light, it takes forever to warm up the thermocouple enough to stay lit. I actually cheat a little and use the main burner to get it going the first time - but I honestly don't remember how I do it.

To light the oven, I push and turn the knob with my right hand while trying to get the butane lighter to light with my left hand. As soon as the pilot lights, I turn the oven knob to about 200 degree mark, watch to be sure the burners light, then close the oven, set heat to correct level and wait for it to heat. It is an awkward task, at best. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a spark producer, like on the stove top?

As stated you turn on the oven control to pilot lite. Light your lighter and hold it under the thermal coupler in the broiler section(which will let gas flow). As you hold the lighter under the thermal coupler push in the oven control knob. It will send gas to the pilot light to light it.

I had a problem with the burner not working and posted that problem. The burner came off the gas feed. The flame roared. Simple fix too.

It drove me crazy the first time I lit it. Then I got self smart. Knowing that there is a thermo coupler I held the lighter under it to let it get hot, then told the DW "Ok, turn it on." Poof, let there be fire. On our oven, if you turn the oven dial to "Off," it turns the pilot lite off. If you turn it back to "Pilot," instead of OFF, the pilot lite will stay lit for the next use.

JUST REMEMBER - when you leave camp, turn it to OFF to turn the gas off to the pilot and oven.

That is correct. To have the pilot to remain on, the knob must be left on "pilot". If you turn it to "off", the pilot goes out too.

I was told that the reason the oven does not have a sparker to light it has to do with code.

Thanks for the responses. I know how to light the pilot light, it just won't lite no more. We used to keep it lite all the time but now it won't at all. I do have gas going to the stove so it's not in the fuel supply. Wondering if any one had issues with the pilot lite assembly or is there something else.

Unless your good with propane and have a propane sensor I suggest replacing the Oven control. The gas for the pilot light is controlled at the oven knob.

check and see if you have a web in the pilot line. if there is, gas will not come thru at all. also the regulator for the stove could be bad,it takes such a small amount of gas to run the pilot,

Maybe itty bitty spiders and/or rust? Be sure your orifice is clear with a needle or little brush. Maybe tap on it lightly to move any obstruction. You always want to keep your orifices open

VanMan's comment about spiders is a real possibility. They love the smell of propane and can clog up an orifice quickly. I've never seen that in an oven but had it happen in water heaters.

Rick: Give Lisa at 4-Seasons RV a quick call -- it really sounds like the thermocouple device has failed -- quick and relatively inexpensive self repair if you feel comfortable doing that kind of work...Not sure if they have the capability to come to your site if you need it... should be someone around that they could / would recommend if it comes to that... Just looked at their web site - looks like most of the replacement thermocouplers are in the 6 to 9 dollar range.

Thanks for all the info. I did check the spider web and none there. It does look like a thermocoupler issue.
