OK, 2 questions

1st my pickup has a brake controller on it...name brand is Tekonsha mark 12, anyone ever heard of it? Is it any good? LOL any ideas where to get my hands on a manual for it...I couldnt find one on the net.

2nd my 02' 3295RK has a GVWR of 14,300...BUT the Monty dealership said I HAD to have a 20k hitch...Is there some unknow mathmatical equation I am missing or is this guy just trying for extra bucks?

Don't know about the brake controller but a 16,000# hitch is all you need.

Like Glen, don't know anything about the brake controller. I use a 16000# Draw-Tite hitch to pull my 3295RK.

16K hitch is plenty. Probably 1. the only one he had in stock, or 2. He had an old one in inventory he is trying to get rid of, or 3. he has a better profit margin on it - or 4. any combination of the above. 20K will hold more than your truck can...

Also, am not familiar with that controller, but I have heard that name bounced around a little. Someone here will jump in with some info on it.

Chappyx6, I agree with the others on the hitch, 16K should be plenty.

Your brake controller is the same as mine. This is the third truck I've had it in, and never had a problem. I'll look around to see if I have a manual somewhere, but in the meantime if you have a specific question, I'll try to answer it.

Tekonsha is the company that makes Prodigy. Did you try tekonsha.com? Or 1-800-STOP-YOU? Our Prodigy came with a little CD and that is the info on the CD.
Happy trails....................

The Tekonsha.com website doesn't have the model I have listed...apparently I'm still in the dark ages with that, go figure. It would probably be for the best if I update that too...

From what I could find, the Mark 12 is also known as the Tekonsha 2030. Looks like it dates back to around 1990. Not sure when they stopped making them. It looks to be similar to many newer controls in that it uses the inertia braking system. As long as it work and you stop, it should be fine. I think most everyone has been using the Prodigy. It's much simpler than my earlier Voyager from Tekonsha. Now Chevy and Ford (probably Dodge also) have integrated brake controllers. I'm not sure who Chevy is using, but Ford I'm told is using the Prodigy. Hope this helps a little.
