2006 f350

I am getting ready to order a new Ford Lariet F350 and the dealer is telling me eight weeks till delivery. Does this sound right? I have seen other posts about GM having trouble with the railwaysShould I expect a longer wait

That will be a fine TV for your needs. You might shop around if your town has more than one ford dealer. Best of luck.

Garin1,
8 weeks is a pretty industry standard for an order to build a vehicle from the ground up. There is always a chance of of delays in the shipping process, but I would say figure 8-10 weeks should be a fair estimate.

We ordered our Dodge the 25th of March '05 and it was delivered the 28th of April. I had a tracking number for it and it ended up sitting in a rail yard by E. St. Louis, IL for 2 weeks.

8 weeks is not that long to wait for a custom build. I believe I waited that long for my king Ranch. The other option you have is to have the dealer do a search on other dealers stock and see if you can find a truck with your specifications.
The other factor is what pricing plan they are giving you....you get what ford is offering at the time truck leaves the factory on a new order. I was lucky and got the 06 employee pricing.

I was told 8 to 10 weeks on the delivery of my 05 350 but in reality in took less than 5 weeks from day of order to at the dealer lot. Ford has a pretty good tracking system..your dealer can tell you how to do it.

8 weeks will seem like it is taking forever. But look at the bright side. Winter will be about over by the time you get it and you'll be able to break it in right.

When we ordered our 2002 Chevy 24500HD, it took about 6 to 8 weeks to get it in. We were like kids waiting for a new toy! Pickup up the TV at 9:00 am and then drove to the RV dealer and pickup up our 315RLS at 11:00 am. Spent lots of money that Sat. morning(sure was lots of fun). Went straight to the camp ground! We love our rig. Have a great car dealership and a great RV dealership. Guess we lucked out on each.

Might not have had to wait if you lived near me. There are diesels setting on all the dealers lots. Drove by a Ford tonight, he had to have 20+ superdutys on his lot. Another dealer was advertising a couple of weeks ago that he had 13 Chevy's with the LBZ's on his. Not talking work trucks either, LT3 Chevy's, Lariat Ford's, 2500's, 3500's, 250's and 350's. Dodge lots are the same too.

I'm told the rail car shortage is an industry wide problem. However, it depends on where you are relative to the factory. GM trucks are being delivered east but the southwest has a problem. It would be a good idea to check the page on the internet that caters to your brand and see what is happening. I am also told that the holiday break allowed some catchup on deliveries and things are starting to smooth out.

In the past I have ordered eight vehicles for factory build. Eight to ten weeks has always been a good guess in the past. Delivery time seems to be the biggest variable unless there is some kind of parts shortage.

We ordered our 2005 F-350 on November 19, 2004; it was delivered to us on January 13, 2005 (one day under 8 weeks later).
