Chest Freezer in the Monty
We have 2005 3295RK. We plan to start full timing next year or the year after. I've been toying with the idea of placing a small chest freezer (6-7 cu ft) in the washer/dryer cabinet. Has anyone already done this? What do you think?

yes we put a 5 cu ft chest freezer in there. We have found that if it is near full things will stay frozen for more than 24hrs, when it is not full I put in milk jugs of water to fill it up. The only thing that we are going to change is to put a louvered door so that there is more air exchange. So far we have just left the door open a little but would like to be able to close it.

This is very do-able Sweetfire. We saw several rigs with chest freezers in their W/D space when we were in Alaska. They need someplace to put their huge catches of fish. When you're parked for a long time, you can put it out under the awning with a sign that says, "We're from Alabama". Appliances are a yard ornament down south. Seriously, I think one would be very useful.

Our primary travel is to Alaska for the summers, so a place for a freezer is at the top of our list of "needs". The 3295RK is high on our list and if we end up there, the chair and hutch will come out and a 15 CF chest will go along that wall. Our little 5 CF that sat nicely just inside the door of our Jayco TT is 22.5" deep and 29" wide. I have wondered if it would fit at the end of the kitchen island.
Best Regards, Ted

We put a 7 cubic ft. Sears upright freezer in the w/d closet(3400). It is really nice to have all the freezer space. If you found the older threads you have probably all ready read my posts. We are also planning a trip to Alaska and hope to fill it with salmon.

After our trip to Alaska, where we caught so many Halibut we had to ship them home,( for $185. !!!) we replaced the barrel chair next to the door(just piled stuff on it anyway) with a great little freezer from wally world. it is incredibly efficiant and will run off our 1000 watt inverter. It is great for boondocking and trips across the country Its amazing how much food you can get in 5 Cu. ft.!!! -------Dave

Boy, Dave, you really like to rub it in! We actually stopped fishing in Alaska because of the expense to send the fish home. These little freezers are definitely the answer.
