Aluminum Rim Problems
I know others have had problems with cracked rims. Guess what! On the first night out on the way down to the RGV we had a flat tire to wake up to. ERS put the spare on and off we went again. When we stopped a couple of nights later we tried to get the tire repaired and we were told we had a crack in the rim and couldn't repair. We arrived in the valley and overnight another flat. I jacked the unit up to take the pressure off the tire as I didn't have a spare anymore.
I contacted Keystone to see if they would do anything about the aluminum rim replacements today and I am waiting for a reply email. I haven't any idea what to do if they say "tough luck". Guess I will have to wait and see. At least I know I have 5 mos. before I have to go anywhere.

Sorry to hear about your problem with aluminum wheels. I was going to save up this winter to buy a set in the spring. Maybe I should spend the money on something else. They really make the rig look good though. Keep us posted on the outcome.

Keep us posted as to Keystone's answer. My guess is they will stand behind you and replace all the wheels.

Bill & Ann, Please let us know what Keystone says. We have wondered if they would replace all of the rims or if you have to worry about the rest going. Great timing at least it was at night and not on the road.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I ordered aluminum wheels on our 2005 and haven't had problems yet (I'm knocking on wood). The aluminum wheels in 2005 are different than those used in 2004 so I'm not sure if anyone is having the same problem now.
Has anyone been having cracking problems on the 2005 aluminum wheels?

We ARE NOT going to order Aluminum wheels on the 2006 3670..They are real pretty but not worth the potential trouble..The problems are widespread on several makes of RV's.

Well , aluminum wheels are in widespread use and I have had them on my last two pickups & I have
them on the car I now own and I also have them on my 06 Montana 2955RL.
You can have poor quality in steel wheels too. If there is a problem with Montana Aluminum wheels, it is a wheel problem, not an aluminum problem.

How much is this for an extra option? Don't remember seeing this on Montana's "Option" list... doesn't mean it was there.

I think they are around $495 for the upgraded aluminum wheels. Ask your dealership for a current price sheet, it will have all options listed as well as price.

I've got them on my 2005, and I do watch them close. No problems so far. I did have a problem with aluminum wheels on my old 1999 F-150 pickup, but it was caused by something I did, and was not a wheel defect. Even a steel wheel would be damaged after smacking a concrete block at 40 MPH.

I changed mine last year after a trip to Idaho and two flat tires. When I contacted Keystone they said they wrer sorry but the Dealer could have changed the wheels. So I bought some steel chrome wheels.
That is the only problem I have ever had on my Montana.

When we purchased our '06 Mountaineer last month I inquired about aluminum wheels, and my dealer said "they were having supplier problems", but wouldn't go into any detail. Perhaps he did me a favor?????

We have the aluminum wheels on our '05 and had a leak around the rims in two of them so far. We took them off and had them resealed and so far so good. Dealer told us this was just normal maintenance.

We have aluminum rims on our Monty and never a problem. I have always watched them close because the max pressure rating on the rims is 60 psi and I usually run about 63. (15 inch ST)
Also have polished Aluminum rims on the truck and never a problem.
I would imagine this is strickly a problem related to the Mfgr of new rims. Easy to solve by just changing mfgrs.

adelmoll: These aren't leaks around the rim. There is a definite crack in the rim.
