Big Sky No More?
Any one have any insight as to why Keystone stopped manufacturing the Montana Big Sky Model? Looks like it was replaced by the Cambridge?

The regular Montanas were improved to the point that the basic non-Big Sky units were very close to the Big Sky package. The Cambridge is not just a replacement for the Big Sky. The Cambridge is being positioned to compete directly with other high end brands like Mobile Suites, etc.
At least that's my understanding.

You can buy any Montana and add the extra options you want. The Big Sky came with all the options so you didn't have to pick and choose which ones you wanted.

Thanks to all for your responses. Adding options to a Montana to get what we have in our 3670RL Big Sky is going to cost a lot more I bet. Oh well!

That's why we also have a Big Sky. Looks like the same as you do Deeswi.

What features does the Big Sky have that may not be on the newer Montana's?

Just found out they were no longer producing the Big Sky and that the comperable from Keystone now was the Cambridge. Have not checked out the 2005 Montana. Have looked at the Cambridge and didn't like it as well as our Big Sky.
Do not know if they have a fireplace, central vac, electric jacks, leaded glass cupboard windows, gold plated lighting fixtures, etc to name a few features.

I think one of the obvious features of the Big Sky is the paint scheme. It really looks nice. As the other features go, the new Montana's have all of those I "think". My coach does not have the central vaccum, although it is an option that alot of the new Montana's have. On the bright side of things, the Big Sky's should hold their value better since you can't purchase them anymore.

The only options missing on our unit are the 2nd air, gen. prep and thermo windows. I suppose they could have been ordered if we wanted them.

The Cambridge is not really comparable to the Big Sky. The Big Sky was an options package for the Montana, primarily an upgrade to interior amenities and also paint and wheels on the outside. It made for a very nice upgraded Montana.
The Cambridge is totally separate, designed and built separately from the Montana. It is built as a fulltimers four-season rig with ratings down to zero degrees F, etc. It also is heavier and considerably more expensive than any Montana including the Big Sky.
Hope that helps explain the difference.

For sure. Probably $20 - $30,000 and a ton more. I will be staying with Montanas.

The Cambridge is definately more expensive. In the $80K range.
Guess when we are ready to trade-in 2006-07, we will look at the Mobile Suites or special ordering a Montana. We are full-timers. But stay in moderate climates. Sure do love our Big Sky
