Wet bolt info

I know this subject has been beaten to death but I've found some info posted seems to be incorrect. While my wheels are off I thought this is good time to install wet bolt. I ordered Mor Ryde U012-016 for the CRE 3000. Having heard all the problems of not taking grease I did some checking before install. First I removed all zerk fittings and check for proper drilling. All were drilled perfectly. I then took each zerk and inserted it into end of grease gun. Over half of them I could not get grease to flow through zerk with out tremendous force. New zerks fixed the problem. The zerks are not 1/8 npt. At least not in my kit. They are regular 1/4" 28 threads per inch.

You are right about the size because I just replaced my zerts with 45 degree zerts for ease of grease gun. I haven't tried putting grease in yet, since I ran out of time. Had problem with one zert before not taking grease, so I don't know if the new zerts will take care of this.

Very good idea about trying to insert grease into the zerk with it removed from the bolt! Didn't occur to me, but I will be looking at all mine since I can't remember now which ones were extremely hard to get grease into. John

Be careful not to over grease, gets into breaks.

eman109,
I believe the subject is wet bolts not wheel bearings.

I just shot grease into mine while still on the bolts to be sure it passed the whole way thru. No real need to pull the zerk off unless you don't get grease. Seems like the first time is the hardest to get them to take grease. After a few hundred miles it went in easier. Also a cheap power grease gun from Harbor Frght is just the ticket to get the grease to flow....
