Install Generator

I bought a new 3400RL with OUT generator prep. Would like to install an Onan LP. I asked Keystone for a wiring diagram and was told they do not have them however was told the AC wiring runs in the roof and then down thru the walls. I would like to wire this generator into the main AC breaker in the bathroom (with a switch over relay)or at any accessible location. Any help on this with out tearing things up would be appreciated.

Ahhhh I don't have the 3400 but......

Gen prep in the 3670RL starts at the shore power connector. The cable runs through the underbelly and through a hole into the front compartment. It passes through a Magnatek switchover relay, then goes back through the underbelly and come up into the power panel.

Nothing in the walls, nothing in the ceiling.

The remote start switch is fished up under the bedroom floor and is installed in the cloths closet wall. I guess in the 3400 you could install it in the kitchen.

The generator sits on a metal frame, about 6 inches above the compartment floor. The floor has index marks which allow a 12 x 12 (more or less) hole to be cut to let hot air out.

A carbon monoxide detector is also included in the living spaces.

Hope this helps.

The gen. prep. can be done by a dealer - ours was as a part of the sale.

Thank You All for your input. You gave me some good ideas. One last question, does anyone know how I can gain access to the power panel located in the toilet area so as to run the cable from the belly to that panel? Can you get into the panel and just drop or pull the cable down to the belly? or does it make some twist and turns. I don't want to make a mess and would rather do it myself then take it to the dealer.(Retired with lots of time besides if I do it it's done to my expectations) Thanks again for the information.

You might want to take a trip to the dealer's Service Dept. without the trailer and discuss this with them.

I've found that, at the one I frequent, I'm encouraged to "do it myself" and have received quite explicit instructions - for free!
