Pivot door

I have a 3790RD with a pivot door in the bathroom. I am tired of hassling with it. My question to those of you that have converted yours to a regular hinge door - did you swing it out or in? What type of hinges did you use, and where did you get them?
It looks to me like the easiest would be to swing it out.
Thanks for any suggestions or helpful hints.

I changed mine to a slider instead of hinged but I would thing having the door swing out would be better IMO I think it would be a bit cramped in the bathroom to maneuver around the door with it swinging in.

I don’t think there is room for a slider in mine.

We used standard hinges and swung it in.

Milford,

Look at this thread for post 17. https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...ad.php?t=80696 The new hardware from MorRyde works very well if you have not changed it yet.

Thanks for the link. I think I may try one of the ideas before I change to a hinged door,

I tightened the bolt on ours and applied a glob of clear silicone caulk to the exposed threads. I used the caulk because I didn't have LocTite handy at the time. It never came loose again in full-time use and wasn't noticeable since it is clear.

I used LocTite over a year ago, no issue since.

Always, if possible, swing doors inward. You have a chance of hitting someone walking by if opening out.

I changed mine about a week after getting ours. I swung it out and used non mortise hinges from Home Depot they worked just fine.

I removed the nylon insert and used a grinder to round the outside a nut and pushed it into the wheeled carriage. Hasn’t given me n issue in over a year

We have a 3791RD with a swivel bathroom door as well and have had numerous problems with the roller unit. We have switched to a three roller unit with a stationary threaded shaft. At the bottom of the shaft, there is a flange that slides into the coupling and then there is a lock mechanism that locks it in place. When the door swivels, the shaft with the threads do not turn. There is a nylon coating on the bracket which fastens to the top of the door, this bracket rotates, not the pin making it unable to strip the threads. So far so good! Note: you will have to put two small spacers on the top of the door first before installing the bracket as you need to take up the space to hook the shaft into bracket. Took about 30 minutes to install.

Door swings out

On my 2019 3731, it now swings out. The pivot didn't fail. I just didn't like it, along with the clunky, down sloping dinette table that is now gone and replaced with a countertop with a small cabinet on each end.

Only issue with the bathroom door is the cheap paper veneer is falling off after maybe 1 year of use. Will have to fix/replace that soon. Also the door knob has a crack in the knob, of all things. Would think at least the door knob would last longer than a year

I have the new parts from Morryde but they didn't come with a locking device. Is it needed? I assume the change-over requires removing the molding. Both sides or???

I haven't had a problem with ours yet, but I remember reading that someone put a second nut on top tightened against the first one to lock it in place. Apparently, they keep loosening up. I guess I've been lucky, but I also lubricate the slide rails regularly.

L D,

I did not have to remove any molding to install. Not sure what locking device you are referring to?
