Fender Skirts Comming Loose
We left our RV Park in Ponca City, Ok yesterday headed for I-35. We made a right turn after a couple of miles. While speeding up I saw something fly from my left front RV wheel. The tire pressure monitors were still up so kept going. We headed North on I-35 and after getting into Kansas I noticed my right fender skirt flyilng in the air. There is a 2 foot section behind the RV door and ahead of the right front RV wheel. It curves underneath the frame and gets bolted to the frame.* The vibration is causing the skirting to break away from the 3/8" bolts which hold it to the frame.* It leaves a piece of the skirting about the size of a silver dollar with the bolt and a hole that size in the skirting. There was a brace at each end of this skirting. The rear brace was missing which is probably what I saw fly from under the other side of the RV. I had a roll of #9 wire and a fencing pinchers and a good supply of cable ties which brought it all back into place along with a cordless drill and a set of drill bits.
When I get home I am going to add some aluminum strips about 1/2 to 3/4" wide from front to back of the RV on both sides and screw it under the skirting to better hold it to the frame. Our RV is a 2010 Montana Mountaineer 326RLT.
