If you’re going to be stupid!
If you’re going to be stupid you need a lot of money or be handy with tools.
This is the damage not the stupid part.
The stupid part was trying to hookup with the tail gate on the truck without help!
Trying to order a door from Keystone is like trying to book a flight to the moon.
The beginning of the handy part.
;
First you have to drill this rivet out of the hinge and remove the door.
Then drill the rivets out of the joint at the bottom of the door this one has all ready been drilled and replace with screws.
Remove the latches.
Then spread the frame enough to remove the door panel pictured here on the plywood I marked for future replacement.
I just turned the door panel around backwards so the inside was out. Notice the “P” marked in red. This stands for passenger side of the trailer to keep from putting the door panel in the door frame wrong
Install the door and put a screw in place of the rivet you drilled to get the door off.
The plywood is a ½ sheet of ¾ plywood wood with a cabinet finished on one side. I will seal it and paint it with a white paint that matches (I hope) the rest of the trailer and put it in place of the damaged panel sometime in the future.
For now this should keep most of the rain out.

Not a bad fix at all. Good thinking.

Very good repair. Plus other than labor possibly way cheaper than buying a replacement door which at last check are way pricier than they should be, but appropriate because the part description probably has the letters RV that can really drive up the price.
But I'm curious, what do you call a person with no money or skills and plans to do something stupid? That could have been a lot worse, especially since it looks like you backed up at an angle.

Hi
When I called Keystone they had no idea how to go about getting me a door. After several minutes of absolute gibberish I just gave up.
All I can say about an RV owner that isn’t handy with tools and has no money is be very careful. LOL
However about a year into this rescission there were a lot of folks at RV parks around Florida that had lost their homes and moved into an RV. I helped several of them with repairs they couldn’t pay for.
Actually the angle saved the day. Because of the angle I didn’t damage the door jam or door frame. Surpassingly it didn’t make any noise. I do all parking and backing with all the windows down and in idle unless necessary to use throttle to make it move. I was at idle when I felt it hit the trailer.

Great job! At least the damage was kept to just the door where you were able to fix it yourself.

Been 2 1/2 years since his last post. And shortly before that he posted his Montana for sale.
