Dumb question
There’s no such thing as a dumb question. Let’s see. When I’m hooked up to my truck and the levelers are retracted, is it ok to extend the slides? I’ll be leaving here in the morning and I’d like to get ready tonight. Thanks

I generally don't, I'll be interested in other responses. To me there are to many chances to have the frame tweaked and cause more problems

Normally I line everything up (hitch and pin) but don't hookup until slides retracted. That only takes a few minutes in the morning. Takes me longer to get TV/RV aligned than to retract slides, landing gear and lock in.
I'm guessing you will ok if you are within 1-2 degrees of level. If you have an RV fridge, it does not like running out of level. That's a whole other topic.
At home we have very unlevel ground.
If I stop overnight and everything is pretty level (according to the level up panel), I leave the TV/RV connected, and run the slides out/in and only connect what I need (power for AC, usually). I do NOT put the levelers down because I do not want to put unnecessary strain on the frame, the pin or the hitch. I just let it sit on the tires and the TV.

I have, but don't generally. Like right now, we're parked for an overnite stop. Still connected to the TV, but used manual mode to put the jacks down and get leveled. Then we put the slides out. In the AM slides will come in first, then raise all jacks, and finally disconnect power.
Doesn't take that long to pull up the jacks.

I see no problem moving the slides either in or out if the camper is level or not. I wouldn’t move the slides if it’s out of level 10 or 15 degrees but within reason no problem. I have moved the slides a lot out of level.

I do it all the time and have never had an issue with any of my 5th wheels. Stop for lunch and run them out.

If we stop overnight in a pull thru spot or on a parking lot we do put the slides out and usually only put the front jacks down if we put them down at all.

If I need to open a slide while hitched, I will extend the landing gear to better help distribute the weight and give the RV a more solid footing.
Remember, the hitch plate (or head) pivots some.

On our last trip, we did an overnight where I tried to keep the Montana hooked up to the truck. My Living Room slide would not fully retract, so I pulled it in, unhitched the trailer and leveled. Solved my problem.
Therefore, I would not extend the slides on an unleveled coach.

I'll call your dumb question and raise it with a silly one. Why leave levelers retracted? You can hit " retract all" and go off and do something else. Even if all you have down is the front levelers. Besides it takes what 30 seconds to manually raise the front.

I like to have the rig level when I move the slides.
I do auto level when setting up and auto retract when hooking up.
I have better things to do than standing there holding buttons.
