Issues with roof and insurance

Hi all, I have some questions about roof maintenence, water damage and insurance.
A friend of mine just was totally denied for a claim. To make a long story short they told him he didn't follow maint. schedules like treating with UV protectors and resealing all the seals. I believe they said every 5 years. His unit is 6 years old. He had some interior water damage , wall and floor with some mold.
Is this a typical senario with a roof leak and interior damage being totally denied?

Thank for your time

Kevin

UV protectors is BS. Checking and maintaining caulking is an essential owner responsibility.

Hi

That all depends on the insurance contract.

If the water intruded into the trailer as a result of poor maintenance, which likely led to rot, the claim would be denied. Thus, the importance of making sure the seams around the roof, vents, AC, etc are well maintained and free from holes. If the loss was the result of damage to the roof membrane due to hail, tree limbs coming into contact, etc., the interior repairs should be covered.
