lube of shower joker valve
On two different trips away from the monty...one for five days and one for two weeks, use of the shower has resulted in ankle deep water before the joker valve allowed for normal draining of the water. All other times, it works as it should. The joker valve is that white rubber material in the drain assembly that is supposed to seal out tank odors yet allow water to drain freely. I haven't visited the manufacturer's website yet...but thought I would pose the question here first. Have you lubed your "joker"? Do you know what is safe to use on it? I have a feeling the answer is take it out, clean it, and re-install...a feat that will be painful on the 3800re and other similar floor plans. John

I messed mine up trying to get it to drain properly so I replaced it. On ours it's in the basement ceiling so it's not a bad job to replace.

Mine was accessible from the basement, cleaned twice with just soap and water.

Pour some blue Dawn down your drain, let it sit a few minutes, dump hot water in the drain

Ours will clog with hair & soap residue. Picked up a drain strainer and solved that problem.

We also went with a strainer after the first one and haven't had an issue since.

Why couldn't a guy put a couple caps full of canola or vegetable oil in there for a lube?
