I remember getting up on Saturday mornings and sitting in front of the "test pattern" with my bowl of cereal waiting for the American Flag and the National Anthem which signaled that it was time for my favorite cartoons.

I remember them too. Do you suppose this tells something of our age? I believe we got our Philco about 1950. Back then you could have watched anything with anybody with no sense of embarrasement. Today sometimes I think I need to apoligize to my wife for some of the stuff they sneak in.

Tnanks, Glenn. That sure brought back the momories. We got our first tv in about 1952, an 8 inch screen. Everyone in the neighborhood closed the blinds and turned the lights off because that was how they watched movies in a theater and believed that tv was the same.

Loved it Glenn, thank you for sharing. I remembered almost all of those. Brought back memories of the good old days. Life sure was simpler then wasn't it? I had forgotten all about that test screen. No remote controls either. Tuning it in, trying to get a good picture. Watching the screen flip. Turning the knob to change channels. My parents got one of the first TVs in the neighborhood and I remember hearing stories of the neighbors coming over to watch with us. Yep those were the days.

Glenn,
What a trip through memory lane! I knew every one of those programs except for "Federal Men"...guess that means that as a kid I watched a lot of TV...
I too wish for the good old days of black and white.
Thank you, Thank you.

Glen-
Thanks for sharing....we did not have a TV until 1954. Reception was poor at best as we were 160 miles from San Antonio and there was only one station at that time, WOAI. I remember most of the shows but as a teen there was lots of other activities to be involved in so sitting in front of the "tube" was not really important to me. Seems like content of the shows was always simple in those days and the "good guys" always made the show turn out the way it was supposed to end. I watch very little television today, mostly news programs and baseball games.
