New Shelves

While at the Shasta rally we added some shelves in the kitchen to give us more space in the pantry and the little cupboard at the end of the island.

We used Ozz's method - aluminum angle iron.
Happy trails.....................

John, all the added shelves are on a slight slant. Nothing moved on the last 2 legs of the trip.
Happy trails...............

Hi Sue and Ed,
Great looking modification you made there. Can you tell me what the shelf material is made from? Plywood or ?, the edge looks like a solid piece of wood.

I picked up two 1/16 x 1/2 x 1/2 x 8' aluminum angle today for $4.61 each and want to do the same as you. Or should I say that Jackie wants me to do the same

Thanks,

Dick

We just bought the "premade" type shelves. Wasn't what we started out to do but was all we could find at Mt. Shasta. It is nice in that they are finished on the edges. The other nice thing is if they don't last all we have to do is lift them out and put in real wood ones. We did not screw the shelves down, they are sitting on the angle iron. The angle iron is across each end, across the back and in the pantry, a small piece on the inside of the middle post. Then we cut the board in half to get it in. In the little cabinet, the angle iron is just on the ends.
Robbie, a lot of this work was done by yours truly. Ed did some and I did some. We are a good team!

On Edit: I should have mentioned the 8" premade shelves fit perfectly. And we put the angle iron in at a 1/4" slant.
Happy trails..........................
