Macerator pump
We are thinking about buying a macerator pump to use for our black water. A friend of ours has one and he even uses it when he is at a campground with sewer hookup. He says using a garden hose to dump the black water is a lot easier than messing with the nasty sewer hose. It also comes in handy to dump his tanks into the home sewer system.
Anyone with thoughts on this subject? Cost vs use, convinience, etc.
CW has the portable one with the case for $249.00.

You might also want to look at the Sewer Saver if you don't need to pump over 30' or uphill. All that's required for power is water input and the discharge is a hose that's included with the unit. We've been using ours for 3+ months of full-timing and it works great!

We bought ours 2 years ago and love it.
THe last 2 1/2 weeks we were in our son's driveway in MN.
Made up a 1 1/2" to garden hose adapter.
Go down in the basement and remove a 1 1/2" plug in the sewer line and run the hose through the window and pump away.
When done flush the hose and pick-up
I have a shut-off on the end of hose so no spillage.
THe only thing is that it does not like the wiping tissues.
I have a pair of long long nose pliars, just incase.

Almost every boat with a head has a macerator pump. Mine works fine. $249 seems a bit high...West Marine (the most expensive marine supplier) has a Shurflo and a Jabsco for $165/159. Boaters World and Defender are probably cheaper.

I know about macerator pumps but don't understand how you are installing them?

Try it, you'll like it. We've used one for over three years when we can't quite reach a sewer the normal way. And yes, you can use it to pump the black water into a house toilet (if you've got a friend who will let you--my son won't even think of letting me do it, however others have).

We have a Par Jabsco macerator pump purchased from Camping World. We have used it extensively and really like it.

I just got my Sewer Solution at Camping World. It cost a little over $100.00. It works great. I am parked 70 ft from the outside sewer tap at my daughters. I didn't want to buy that much hose so I purchase 7 10ft plastic plumbing pipe. It is better and fits my hose to the sewer solution. I started with the water hose but lately I dump with just the force of the black tank fluid creating enough force for the 70 feet run to the sewer . It works every time. I dump the grey tank to flush my pipes clean of the black sewer.

Is 50' pretty much the max on the FloJet? It's listed as on special for CW memebers right now for $202.49.
