Bike ride on the Island in the Sun

Yesterday was President's day, most of the working peep's were off, so we thought we would join them relaxing and partying around the Island.
We hopped on the bikes and headed out. We biked over to the Beach, as that is our favorite place here. Sue took a few slices of bread as the Sea Gulls are a hoot to feed. They get so close when we throw up the little bread chunks, you can actually touch them as they hover in the wind, it's really noisy, as they make all sorts of sounds, begging for the bread.
I imagine there were 40 or so, stacked in the air so close they were touching each other's wing tips. They even drool as they pluck the bread out of the air. When the bread supply was exhausted, we just put our hands up in the 'hold up' position, they know the deal, they immediately leave and look for another donor.
Sue and I biked over to the jetty, took some pictures there, hit the Oyster Bar, then on to the Beach Blvd, to look at the beautiful homes there and stop for a cold one at our now familiar beach bars.
I took a few pictures for you, I will attach.
I hope your day off was good as well.
The first picture was a Heron, I think. He has a 'Bum' foot, his left, in the picture, he is now a beggar, he gets real close to you and hobbles around on the bad foot, he can't wade around in the shallows, so his feeding ground is now over on the jetty where a few kind fishermen share the bait they buy for fishing with him.

Loved the photos and the narrative on your bike ride. Made me feel almost like I was there (I wish!). The photos warmed me up with that warm breeze and sun I could imagine. (Hey, it is almost 40 here today - a real heat wave truly for this time of year!)

You Northerners have had spotty bad weather, Sue's folks are in Walker, Minn., they have had very little snow, or rain before that. It's been a crazy Winter everywhere, I think.
It's been colder than anyone around here can remember in the Rio Grand Valley.
(Still pretty darn nice)
Glad you enjoyed the pictures, thanks.

Thanks for the pics! Boy a bike ride sure sounds like fun! Sure is pretty where you are at...it is a dull cloudy day here, dirty melting looking snow, but much much warmer temps...I am hoping that Spring is soon here and just not teasing us!

Hey Ozz! enjoyed the pictures. Also enjoyed being with both of you at the MOC gathering in McAllen last week, though you saved the good weather until we were safely on the way home! Our trip from Victoria to Tyler was against a very firm and steady headwind. We didn't handle it as well as the gulls

Campbud, the weather maps look promising.....
David, it seems when on the road, it's always in our faces, isn't it?
It was great to meet you two, we will meet again.

Great pics Ozz, I can still feel the tropical breezes in my hair, and taste the salty margaritas on the rocks at The Pier in St. Pete. You make me want to go back down there...:-) Keep the pics coming, we can all live vicariously through you and Sue...LOL
