Fireplace cleaning??

Hello All,

Our '14 3150RL has a Dimplex Fireplace. Our first. We have used the heater part for quite a bit. 2 summers in Colorado and our 2nd winter.

Our space heaters get dusty/dirty and I have to clean them a couple times per season. But, I have never taken the Dimplex apart.

It has to be dirty in the blower and heater area. So do I need to take it apart and clean it. The instruction manual does not say any cleaning is needed, but with the dirt/dust in a RV, it has to be dirty in there.

Any tips? Thanks Jim

Not a big deal I have done it many times just time comsuming, not sure about the 2014 Dimplex and my 2015 is a little different BUT my 2012 you just remove the 4 hidden screws at each corner of the fireplace,One at each top corner and 2 behind the flip down bottom panel in each corner and it will slide out then all you do is remove ALOT of little screws and the panels come off then vacuum all around especially where the sensors are they get dust all over them and it will shut down the fireplace ALSO while you are in there Tighten ALL the electrical connections as they come loose sometimes

We pull it out every year about this time for cleaning and checking for loose connections. It is time consuming but worth the time considering what might happen.

Excellent description of what to do. Have done multiple times.

Don't forget to empty out the ashes too.

Sorry, couldn't help myself!

We pulled it the first time right after purchase and before we did any serious travel there were debris back there and had some loose connections .We have pulled it twice since and never had to do anything except vacuum .I highly recommend that we pull the fireplace on a new unit as soon as you can to prevent possible problems.

On the ones like ours it also gives you the opportunity to get everything that's fallen, or in our case the cats knocked, behind the TV. We do it once a year in the summer.
