Summer plans

HI All We are on our sixth year of full timing. We are not retired so we have worked our way through several states. In 2007 we worked at Lost Lake Resort in Washington between Tacoma and Olympia next to Lacy. The Winter of 07-08 we stayed in Coos Bay, Or and didn't work we had enough unemployment from our Jobs before we started this life style. The summer of 08 We headed out for Utah had taken a job a Ruby's Inn. After arriving we found the job was not as they had verbalized it. It was late for getting on with other National Parks, it was the Middle of April we called the HR of the Grand Canyon on the North Rim. We landed jobs there I worked at the Sinclair Service Station and the DW worked at the Gift Shop. That Winter 08-09 we took a job at Beaver Dam Az. Assistant Mang of Cheifsleep easy RV Park. Summer 09 we hired on in New Mexico with Bowlin Travel Centers on I-40 75 east of Alburqueque NM. We were with them for 15 months. March 2010 We hired back on with the North Rim of GC I did Maintenance and Tressia work as a clerk in the accounting office. Then we hired on with Priymid Lake CA. Not for long about a month. Then I took a volunteer job at Santee CA. Santee Lakes. Then we got the job at Twin Cedars RV Park in Lynnwood Wa. As the Managers that was July 2011 to April 2012. Then were we are currently Turtle Rock Resort from May 2012 to present. I just took the offer of Managing the Maintenance crew at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon the wife is going to work in the gift shop warehouse. We leave here Feb 28 for AZ. All is well in our world, hope and pray it is in yours.

Take your time getting to the GC. We were there last weekend, it was beautiful but the morning temps were -18 and -13. Since we'll be working in Kansas this summer, we envy you. The north rim is perfect in summer.

Thanks As I remember it can be snowy up to June. Slight ground cover of snow. Temps 25 they don't even start plowing snow until the middle of April to get workers in. The summers both years we were there never got over 85 and most evening a breeze made it very comfortable. We just love the views from out home on the top, a short walk to the Rim. So looking forward to going back. We are hopeful of a full time position so I can work until I'm 67 or so. Life is Good on the road again. Have safe travels.

If all goes well, we will have just retired and will be taking the "lonngggg" way to Colorado. We were to the Grand Canyon in the dark in 1979. I haven't heard the end of it since. Then we'll take in a number of the Utah National Parks. We are looking forward to a leisurely ride "home". After 40 years in Manufacturing, I am going to learn how to take my time doing things.

"Taking your time doing things"

Let me know how that works out for you. I have been 3 yrs now and still haven't learned how to take my time doing things. In fact 3 yrs. later, and I still get up between 4:00 and 5:00 am every day!! Sure wish I could change that!!

Good luck on your retirement, your going to love it!!

Dave

Are you going to the South side or the North side. If you are going to the north Rim. Then look us up. Randy and Tressia Avellar. See you there.

Will do! We are going to the South Rim first, then all around Utah and end up at the North Rim NPS campground there.

Randye -

When does the North Rim CG open up. Reading an Arizona guide, it says they usually are closed till mid-May. We will arrive at the South rim around May 8 and then head up to the North rim. Do we need reservations then? We hope to meet you then.
