New Surge Protector Worth The Money

When I was at CW last weekend they had a sale on those handy portable surge protectors for just 88 bucks. I thought in the back of my mind what a waste of money but was I wrong. We arrived at the lake later than planned and had to set up camp in the boonies. We were stuck in an area with no slab, no sewer hook up and stacked on a grass parking spot about 10 in a row. I pulled out this new device nad plugged it in. I first thought it was defective but after I called the park ranger out he opened the box and there were burnt wires all over the inside. He fixed it and I still couldn't get juice through the surge protector. I decided I would refrain from using their power that night. Sunday morning I got up and drove around to my usual spot(new area with new electrical) and found a space for Miss Monty. When I got hooked up I pulled out my surge protector and everything worked perfect. If I wouldn't have made this impulse purchaseat camping world I could be sitting at the lake with burned wiring...instead I am enjoying a weekend with care free a-c.

Phil

P.S. Thanks to Ozz for posting the picture of this product a month or so ago. When I spotted this in the store it was because you had posted a picture of one of these things on this forum.

Here is a link to the protector I am talking about.

We purchased the same item about 3 weeks ago after information garnered from this forum. Sure enough at our seasonal the last two weeks they have have some electrical problems, breakers tripping, surging, etc. and it was great piece of mind knowing we had protection.

What will you do if connected to 50 amp service? If your rig will work on 50 amps, wouldn't it make more sense to get a 50 amp protector?
