Wand'rin' Star

First a little trivia. Wander'in Star was written for a Broadway musical Paint your Wagon in 1951. A film was made in 1969 staring Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood. Lee Marvin was not a natural singer but insisted on singing all his songs vs miming another singer. The song was a hit in the UK becoming number one and actually kept the Beatles from reaching number one with their song "Let It Be". I took the priviledge of re-writing the lyrics but if you know the tune sing along. If you have never seen the movie - you are missing a treat. At times hilerous.

I was born under a wanderin’ star.
I was born under a wanderin’ star

Wheels are made rollin’
RV’s are made to pack
Never seen a sight that didn’t
Look better looking back

I was born under a wanderin’ star

Mud can make you prisoner
Plains can bake you dry
Snow can burn you eyes
But only people make you cry

Home is made for comin’ from
For dreams of goin’ to
Mine is on the back of
A Ford that’s painted blue

I was born under a wanderin’ star
I was born under a wanderin’ star

When I get to heaven
Better tie me to a tree
Or I be a hooking up
And you know where I will be.

I was born under a wanderin’ star
A wanderin’ wanderin’ star.

My first wife was a Mormon when we went to see that movie. She acted like she was insulted over Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood sharing 1 wife. Oh well...Hey! Your lyrics are great.

Good job.

Love the song, the movie, the play, it states exactly how I feel about life. Thats why it is my profile signature and has been my motto and creed for the last forty years. Roads and time are never long enough to explore life's beauty.
One of the main reasons I enjoy this club so much is I can share and visualize each of your journeys through your post and pictures.

Thanks for sharing: Wandering Star
