Firestone airbags
How much more can you really tow by adding these?

Not a pound. As stated in the previous thread, the tow capacity is the GCWR minus the weight of the tow vehicle, loaded and ready to tow.

They're used to level your rig & truck, and give better ride when heavily loaded, but not to add more weight capacity.

Yea ... what Tom and Walt said. Their ability to level your TV and somewhat cushion the ride while towing are air bags given tasks.

Thank you for the replies. I had a dealer tell me it added 2000lbs capacity. We are in the process of buying a bigger truck to haul my new 3910.
I don't know a lot about towing.

As stated air bags do not add tow weight. The dealer is either uninformed or worse.

Which dealer told you this-- the Montana dealer or the truck dealer? Guess it doesn't make that much difference because neither knew what they were talking about!

Can't imagine a dealer telling you that air bags added 2K to your load capacity. The dealer I worked for would not allow a buyer to buy and take delivery if the TV was not big enough for the RV. I got a sale when another salesman in a less than polite voice told the customer he "could not pull that trailer with that truck". That salesman shoulder have been a little more tactful with his wording!

Should you decide to add airbags (for the proper reasons!), consider the Air Lift bags instead of the Firestone's. I had Firestone bags on our 06 and they held up great, but Air Lift look to be the same quality, have the same warranty, yet cost a lot less. On top of that, they are currently offering a $50 rebate on the bags and another $50 if you get a compressor system for them. I ordered both bags and compressor from Amazon.

I run the Air Lift bags and added the compressor last spring when the rebate went on. Going on 3 years for the bags and one year for the compressor ... no issues to date and like mentioned lesser cost.

If you ever happen to travel on roads such as those found in West (by God) Virginia, you will quickly appreciate the ride smoothing effects of any airbags or similar add-on (note, I did not endorse a particular brand). As stated, there is no effect of pin weight capacity or tow capacity, but the results of a minor truck investment are definitely noticeable. As always, this is not an endorsement, but I am glad I have the Firestones on our dually!!

X2 what Bingo stated, plus if you ever leave a CG early in the morning and need your headlights, it sure is nice having your TV level so your headlights are actually shinning where they are suppose to instead of up in the air.

I have had Air Bags on both of my last two trucks, well worth it and sure make it nice adjusting for the load you are carrying.

I had the ir Lift bag on my 1999 F-250 and they were great for leveling the rig and smoothing out the ride. I now have a 2008 F-350 with stiffer springs. I do not need air bags to level this truck BUT I wish I did. This truck does a great job of hauling the Monty but with the stiffer spring the ride sucks. With less springs and air bags we would get a softer ride. But as stated, they do not increase the truck ability to haul more weight. They do help handle the weight you are already hauling.
