Shower floor
Good morning,
I need some advice regarding my shower floor. It is developing a crack around the drain. Is it possible to repair it or do I need to replace the entire floor? If the floor needs to be replaced, is it something a dealer should do?
The rig is a 2006 3500RL. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bob Vogler

I also own a 06 3500rl. I have performed numerous upgrades and repairs to my unit. If my shower floor cracked I would have a WELL QUALIFIED dealer perform the repairs. It looks like a lot of work and many things can go wrong. If they screw it up they have to fix it. Also for that repair I like the idea of dropping it off broken and picking it up fixed. However if you decide to repair it yourself and have a problem I'm sure many talented MOC members will be there to help you. Also if you do it yourself please keep us posted on your progress. Either way good luck - John

We have a 2005 3400RL and recently a crack appeared on the floor of the shower. I've tried a fiberglas patch that didn't work and now, silicone sealant that seems to be holding. I took it in for other repairs and asked the dealer to check about replacing the shower tub. Seems that Keystone doesn't carry that shower tub any longer. Guess I will hope the silicone holds until I can come up with a better fix.

I think there have been other threads on this and it seems to me the reason most are cracking is because there is no support under the tub/shower floor. If you put a shower down in the stick you put either foam or mortar under it to support the floor from the weight of your body standing on it. If I remember right from the other threads, Keystone/Montana does not put anything under that floor or base. There have been some fixes by putting spray-in/expanding foam under the base to fill the open space if I am not mistaken!.

Thanks for the replies. I am taking it to Merz RV in Fond du Lac, WI on Tuesday to get it replaced. I will ask them about filling the open space at that time and I will let you know how it turns out.

Question. For those of you who have reinforced your shower floor, how do you access it? Is is best to spray in foam or is there a better fix? We recently received our Montana and I sure would like to be proactive on this one!
Thanks.

There should be panels at the side or bottom of the enclosure that will give you access.

As a clarifying question; Is this thread discussing a shower vs garden tub? I have a garden tub/shower and there is foam beneath the tub supporting the tub floor. I had a crack in the curve from the floor up to the side. I purchased a tub repair kit from Lowes. Followed the instructions on the package and the repair continues to hold. I also placed a strip of eterna-bond underneath the tub floor to help hold the bottom.

Those that have placed foam under the shower. Did you use low expanding spray foam, high expanding spray foam, block foam, or what?

Sorry it took so long for me to report my progress. Days just fly by when you have nothing to do. We replaced the shower floor, not a garden tub, at Merz RV in Fond du Lac, WI. I asked them to reinforce the floor with something, foam, wood, morter etc. They did use foam so it is firmer that before. In fact it is so firm the water now runs away from the drain and we have to squeegy it after showering. However we don't have any leaks so it is small price to pay.

I have the garden tub it has foam under the tub, but it is soft and now has dents where we stand all the time. Im sure it will brake in time So, to repace with new foam? I thought to put a 1/8" Ply between the tub and the foam would support the tub and still have the give of the foam. Any ideas.
