Adding Extra brake lights?

Anyone add extra brake lights in addition to the small round lights on the back? I have a 2014 Big Sky with a rear cap. Thinking of adding a pair of long brake lights on the left and right. Appreciate pictures of finished project. Thanks!

I did it after I saw a friends. Make it possible to see brake lights when there are car behind you. A little bit of work hiding wires.

Some have also changed those particular lights out for bright LED's.

Replace both the brake/tail lights and the back up lights with round LEDs. They are really bright and easy to wire up.

I have a 2014 with rear cap and replaced the tail lights with the round led's from Napa and also replaced the backup lights with the red led's. Most people don't use the backup lights if they don't have a camera. Just wire the backup lights to the tail lights and you now have 2 tail lights on each side. Any time i am backing up i have my wife as a spotter so don't need backup lights. I try not to stop at rv parks after dark anyway and 90% of all rv parks are pull throughs.

Thanks for the idea. Were the LED lights the same size?

Yup, the stock lights and the LED replacements are all 4" in diameter. Here is a link to one of many replacement options.

As Carl said, they are 4'' but for some reason the one's i bought were slightly larger so i used my dremmel and made the holes slightly larger. This being fiberglass it took very little use of the dremmel to make it fit. The one's i bought were not from Amazon so the Amazon lights might fit perfectly. Great mod.

Thank you Carl N Susan and Texan. I'm working on the upgrade this week while camping in Maine. I grounded the Amazon LED lights Carl referred to back to the neutral wires. Like Texan said, these lights are slightly larger than the Montana's light opening. The rubber grommet pops right in for a tight seal, but when trying to place the light fixture in, it's too tight. Didn't want to break it with a rubber mallet. Will open the opening with a tool and send pics on the finished project. Great upgrade. Thanks for your help.

We did replace all of our lights with LED to reduce power drain and no other change. We do have the rear view camera that provides a excellent view of everything behind the RV.

When I replaced our stock lights the rubber grommet from the new light had to be stretched to get it to sit correctly. The back edge bound on the cap and the light wouldn’t fit correctly. Once I pulled the backside of the grommet over the inside lip of the cap it fit perfectly. Great upgrade 7 leds vs 1 incandescent was a major upgrade

I just took out the 'back up' lights and replaced with brake lights....now I have 4 brake lights--all LED.
If someone hits me when I am braking at least they'll see what they hit, the led lights are bright.

backup white lights were worthless to me anyway.

The two lights with the rubber grommets on the passenger side popped right in, but the driver side is still too tight. Plan to grind in down slightly. I think someone else had a similar problem with the metal fixture that looks like the original light.

Brake light project finished

Added LED lights similar to original manufacturers style and size. Improved visibility!
