Checklist
I'm finally getting around to putting a real checklist together for whenever we hook up to go and when we arrive in the CG. The Montana maintenance checklist is a good start, but I want to develop something comprehensive so I don't leave the regulator on the water faucet or put the slides out before I put the Xchocks on. Some of you long timers probably have some great ones and I always prefer to copy the wheel rather than invent it. If someone has one they like that could be modified to the individuals I'd sure appreciate you sharing!
Thanks,

Dick and Joyce, I don't have a checklist other than the one in my head. DW checks behind me and I behind her.
I guess the most important thing I have found is to do your setup or breakdown the same way every time. If your neighbor comes out and wants to talk, start your checklist over again. Any interruption can cause you to forget something.
All of that said, I always do a complete walk around after everything is done. I check all of the basement compartments being locked, look at tires once more, check hook-up and steps.
One thing we do is when we cannot receive satellite and use the antenna and booster, we hang a doodad on the antenna crank to remember to lower it in the morning.
Happy trails,

I sent you my check list by PM. Hope it helps, I have made the same mistakes twice while unhooking, so I need a list. The biggest thing for me is to not get in a hurry and not talk with others while hooking or unhooking. The list allows me to politely listen or observe other situations that are momentarily distracting me from my task. I have a good memory, its just short.

Thanks to both of you!!! I'll use parts or all of both I'm sure. I also can be distracted particularly if someone walks up and asks a question about something odd we have or are doing. With a list I know where I was and won't skip things I'll regret later.
Thanks again!

Dick,
I'm pretty sure that there are a number of lists located on the "HOME" page. Just take a look and see. I know there are extensive listings of all kinds of things. Good luck, Dennis.

The home page has a great maintenance check list, but that leaves out things like putting the antenna down etc.

Larry and Recumbent, Would you send the list to me as well? This is a great idea!! I printed one I found on RV.net, but it is a list of things to remember to take with you rather than a to do list. Thanks!!!

The first thing I do, even before backing in, is check the power pedestal with my EMS 50 PTC. Nothing worse than backing in, leveling, put chocks in, pull slides out, then find out the power pedestal is not functioning correctly. Might save you some consternation once in a while.

Excellent tip!
I guess I've just been lucky so far. I'm going to start checking.

That's the best addition yet. Give the neighbors a show to watch getting into a tough spot and then find out it was just for their enjoyment. Just added check the electricity to the top of my pulling in checklist.

We recently learned the hard way how important it is to do a visual check before taking off. My husband made a mental note to retract the satellite dish mounted on the top of our RV, but then forgot to do it. You can imagine what the dish looked like after we drove under a low overpass! Needless to say, we now do a visual check every time!

DW and I each do a walk around separately. We try to catch the other person missing something. This visual inspection has saved us more than once.
