Had to change a glow plug and found a new toy!

We're in a remote part of NY state and can't get an appointment with the nearest GM dealer for a few weeks. So, I decided to get a new glow plug and install it. I did, but wanted to reset the computer. I found a nifty bluetooth device on eBay for $25 with shipping that connects wirelessly with my netbook in the truck and reads and resets the ECM codes.

I installed the software, connected to the bluetooth scanner and it worked like a charm - read the codes and had the option to clear them. In my case it was P0674 meaning glow plug #4.

Thought I would pass it along.

and where is this remote part of NY? If your down my way we can read/reset your codes...or better yet just snoop through all your gadgets so our wish list can be improved.
On edit...we have this -> http://www.autoenginuity.com/ with both Ford and GM enhanced packages.

There's also an app for the Android smart phones using the same wireless OBDII interface:

I like that idea. I'm going to order one myself and give it a try.

You would have to have some type of smart phone to use the Torque App as in the Utube video. If you want to use your laptop, it will have to have a blue tooth card installed in the laptop and then you will just install the software that comes with the OBDII wireless blue tooth adapter.

But no, you dont need a navigation system in your RAM. I'm not sure about a Blackberry, do you have internet access with your Blackberry?

Just to add an option, for those of us with the Garmin EcoRouteHD that uses bluetooth to transmist computer information to our Nuvi, it also will read and reset the codes. It's more expensive than $25 so I wouldn't buy it in lieu of the one Michael got but wanted to point this out for those who have or are contemplating the ecoroutehd.
